Last summer, we announced our capital campaign to help build our new Chapter House. In just a few months, we have reached over half our goal of $1.75 million! We are beyond thankful to the 121 loyal donors who have committed a total of $1,158,892. This is truly outstanding and proves that our brotherhood is still important to many of you. Our original plan was to break ground in June and spend the summer on early construction. However, construction bids for those plans came back $1.5 million over budget, forcing us to pivot. The good news is that our team is adapting as quickly as possible. Our architect, Brian McGuire; contractor, Brad Massad; and I are reviewing plans to see what changes will fit within the budget while keeping the overall look intact; we will then resubmit to the City of Ruston and the fire marshal for review. We now hope to break ground by September 1, as it is imperative that new students and recruitment participants see our Fraternity moving forward. In the long term, this project will help our active brothers thrive in the best environment and allow future members to come home to a new facility that meets their needs. Let's ensure that our new house is reflective of the outstanding men who inhabit it. As we push through this new obstacle, all Kappa Sigs must come together to support the Building Our Forever Home campaign. Rally your brothers for a class gift, honor a loved one through a five-year pledge, or join your family to place your name on the distinguished list of donors. If you have already made a gift, please consider extending your commitment for an additional one to two years or making an additional one-time donation. If you have yet to donate to our campaign efforts, we encourage you to think back to your years at Louisiana Tech and remember what gifts Kappa Sig has given you. Each donation—no matter the size—will make a difference, and gifts given today will help us begin our new plans on time. The countdown is on—now is your opportunity to be a part of this once- in-a-lifetime project. Honor your commitment today through a gift to Epsilon-Gamma. Fraternally, Jerry H. Derald Morgan '59 found great examples of men to look up to during his time in Kappa Sigma. When going through recruitment, he met many brothers who showed him what a True Gentleman could be. "Speedy Mabury, Gamma left a lasting impression on me when I was the fundraising chairman for the new Chapter House we had designed and needed to fund," he said. "He was a successful businessman and always helped even though he was an alumnus from the LSU Chapter." Derald served as chairman of the fundraising committee for the first house that the Chapter funded. Since Epsilon-Gamma was relatively new, Derald reached out to alumni from other chapters to sell them on helping. Even though he knew how hard it was going to be and how much work it would take to fund a Chapter House, Derald was ready to help. When Epsilon-Gamma announced its Building Our Forever Home campaign to build a new Chapter House, Derald was ready to step up and do his part once again. "Donating was also an easy sell for me since a good Chapter needs a good house with live-ins and meals, as well as a Why J.
