T his school year held many accomplishments and successes for Gamma Zeta Chapter. Joining a sorority in college is a life-changing experience, but garnering an education is the top priority for Kappa Kappa Gamma. We were honored to be awarded the Outstanding Academic Success Program Award for the 2021-22 academic year. In addition, Mary Jane Jackson Crist '66, a notable Gamma Zeta alumna, won an award for being the most recognizable and a strong backbone of Arizona Greek life with her generous donations to our community. To help members succeed, we provide resources and information about academic and career services offered by the university. In April 2022, two of our members were fortunate enough to be awarded Panhellenic academic scholarships. Kameron Catt '19 was awarded the Living in Your Values Scholarship, and Alison Dimuro '20 was awarded the Academic Excellence Scholarship. In addition to success through academic excellence, Gamma Zeta is thrilled to have also seen success through philanthropy. In the fall semester, we hosted Krispy Kreme with KKG, where our members sold donuts to raise money for the JED Foundation, a nonprofit organization that protects emotional health and helps prevents suicide for teens and young adults in the United States. In the spring semester, we hosted our second philanthropic event, Hoops for Hope, which is a basketball tournament played by teams that our members put together. This year, we raised over $37,000 for Wight Horse. Wight Horse was founded by one of our very own members, Paige Wightman '19, and is an organization that helps free people from medical debt so they can focus on healing. Our philanthropy program is unique in that, each year, members can present their philanthropic proposal to the entire chapter, which selects one cause to support for the year. We have also hosted several sisterhood events, including a brunch at Flora's Market Run, a picnic with our sister sorority Gamma Phi Beta, and other events such as workout classes and pumpkin painting. Gamma Zeta Chapter fosters a constant sense of community and sisterhood while placing high value on academics, philanthropy, and campus involvements. We are thrilled to continue watching our members' growth next year and in the years to come!
