page 13 | University of Missouri CHAPTER ETERNAL Nancy Greef Cramer '50 entered Chapter Eternal peacefully at her home in Independence, Mo., on January 17, 2021. She graduated from Mizzou with a bachelor's degree in journalism and English honors. Nancy was an elementary teacher for 18 years in the Hickman Hills School District before becoming a school counselor. She served as a judge for the Science Pioneers Annual Science and Engineering Fair for more than 35 years. Nancy was married for 16 years to John Norman Stovall, the father of her four children. Later in life, she married Harold Cramer, and they spent 20 years together. For the last 10 years, Nancy fulfilled her dream of professional writing, penning numerous articles and short stories along with publishing five books commemorating various aspects of World War I. In 2013, Nancy met her loving companion, Niel Johnson, and they spent the last seven years pursuing similar interests, particularly writing. Shirley Sexton Wernicke '52 entered Chapter Eternal on July 18, 2021, with her husband of nearly 67 years, Rod, at her side. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in education in 1954. That same year, she and Rod were married. After Rod graduated, he was commissioned into the Navy, and he and Shirley lived in Pensacola, Fla., Corpus Christi, Texas, and Coronado, Calif., where their oldest son, Tim, was born. Rod and Shirley moved to Hurst, Texas, when Rod took a job at Bell Helicopter in 1959, and Shirley gave birth to twins, Kent and Carl, in 1960. When her sons were in high school, Shirley resumed her career as an educator, earning her master's degree in special education and teaching for 18 years. Shirley was an avid bridge player who learned to play canasta in her 80s. Nancy Julian Kann '54, of Independence, Mo., entered Chapter Eternal on December 31, 2021. She graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in education and a lifetime teaching credential. She met her husband, Raymond, in college, and the two shared 58 years of marriage with three wonderful children. During retirement, Nancy and Raymond enjoyed spending time with family, traveling and remodeling/decorating their home. Doris Huddle Dehardt Kagin '55, of Seal Beach, Calif., entered Chapter Eternal on December 15, 2020, after her battle with COVID-19. Doris was a passionate and curious learner and excelled academically. She earned her Ph.D. in psychology from Michigan State University at the age of 26. She moved to California and joined the faculty of the Psychology Department at Cal State Long Beach, quickly distinguishing herself as a top scholar and educator. In all areas, Doris was indefatigable as a voracious reader, learner, educator, activist, licensed clinical psychologist, mother and friend. She donated to over 20 charities every month and supported justice and equality for all, regardless of gender, race, socioeconomic status or sexual orientation. Despite several medical problems, she was persistently optimistic and grateful, always focusing on the good things. Her strength inspired everyone; she improved the lives of thousands of students, clients, friends and family members. Colleen Wilson-Pappa '83, of Las Vegas, Nev., entered Chapter Eternal on March 3, 2022. She loved Mizzou and Alpha Chi Omega, but her mother's health issues prompted her to leave college. Colleen later graduated from Cal State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration/finance and earned an MBA from UNLV. She met her husband, Erik, in 1994, and they had a daughter, Katherine. Colleen was involved in numerous professional and volunteer charitable organizations and worked on behalf of children, the disabled, animals and those in need. Emily Salinas '13, of Gurnee, Ill., entered Chapter Eternal on March 12, 2022. She worked as a senior specialist, relationship events, for the Alzheimer's Association. She was fully committed to the mission of a world without Alzheimer's in honor of her grandfather. Emily also worked for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She lived in Chicago for a period of time and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. ALUMNAE NEWS Bonnie Breidenstein Ragland '60 is retired and living on a hill overlooking Fontana Lake in Bryson City, N.C., with Smoky Mountain National Park on the horizon. Lunch with Mary Ann Eggers Beahon '65 at Shakespeare's, a campus tour and dinner at Les Bourgeois rounded out the celebration. The couple lives in Kansas City, Mo. She is also the first vice president of the Jefferson City Art Club, which meets over Zoom when they're unable to meet in person. She enjoys gardening, trying new recipes, reading and making sourdough bread. Janet Cardetti Taylor '76 retired after a career as a CPA in both public and private accounting. She volunteers at her local farmers market in Webb City, Mo., her church and the local Soroptimist organization. Janet became a grandmother of both a girl and a boy in 2020 and is loving it!
