Official Kids Mag www.kidscoop.com © Vicki Whiting July 2022 2 We celebrate America's Independence Day with parades, pageantry and picnics and how I look forward to those events returning this year! But other places also celebrate their own independence and so in our Spotlight pages, we look to how other countries celebrate their Independence. The STEM page this month looks at Neptune. We won't be visiting any time soon because it is icy, cold and windy but it is beautiful to look at. Rainforests are threatened areas throughout the world. They are the homes to as many as 30 million plants and animals. This page has a great coloring activity for you all to enjoy. Now that we can enjoy warm summer days, let's all get out and get into some Outdoor Games—Red Light, Green Light, Freeze Tag and for great exercise and fun, Ghost in the Graveyard! Mythology and fantasy are topics many of us relish reading in summer. The Greeks believed that Pandora was responsible for releasing the ills of humanity into the world when she opened a mysterious box. It's a great tale. So, collect a blanket, go sit in the garden, park or under a tree and enjoy this July edition of Kid Scoop News. I know I will. Happy summer reading! With an adult's help, cut the top off an empty milk carton. Punch five small holes in the bottom of the carton for drainage. Fill the carton with soil about an inch from the top. Plant three to five seeds and gently push them into the soil. Place your planter on a plate in a window and dampen the soil with water. 3 ........................America's Independence Day 4 .........................Celebrate Independence Around the World 6 .........................Neptune: The Windy Planet 8 ................The Rainforest: Life in Layers 12 .........Sunshine Stumper 14 .........Lakes Appreciation Bingo 15 .....................Sea Turtles
