The alumni board met in Columbus to discuss the future of Delta Triton. T he Delta Triton Alumni Board conducted their annual strategic planning event on April 9 in Columbus, Ohio. In-person attendees included John Lendrum '80, Juan Fraiz '79, Tom Boldrick '83, Gregg Walbridge '81, Todd Schatzka '88, Dave Franzman '80, Alice Demming, and me. Chris O'Donnell '89 and Austin Tummers '15 joined the meeting virtually via Zoom. Key focus areas for the meeting were maintaining Delta Triton as an active chapter on campus for the next 100 years, ensuring long-term financial stability of the house corporation, strengthening the board and engaging alumni, and improving the brotherhood, scholarship, and character of our members and everyday house life. The board left the meeting with strong alignment and clear action plans. Two new adviser roles for risk and financial management were approved, and three new committees were established to manage communications, board nominations, and charitable giving. In addition, several new activities will be initiated to build active alumni engagement, including a spring graduation and awards dinner and regular Phi Sig forums covering various topics. Members Plan the Future of Delta Triton ALUMNI BOARD ACTIVITY S imply joining Phi Sigma Kappa is not a guarantee for success. George Borrello '89 took this message to heart during initiation in the Delta Triton Chapter, where he learned to be a better leader and better man through hard work. George attended recruitment in his freshman year at Purdue during a time of change and PSK's merger with another fraternity. "It wasn't just about living in the house with a bunch of your friends. It was about the charity work that we did, the philanthropy, and the importance of being a complete person," he said. "Part of being a complete person is giving back and having a diverse set of skills." George helped develop these skills while serving as treasurer and social chairman of Delta Triton. "It was an important early lesson for politics," he explained. "You need to manage all those different personalities and situations, and as treasurer, you need to know how to manage finances." Now as an elected New York state senator as well as a small-business owner, those experiences and responsibilities with Phi Sigma Kappa gave George a strong foundation for his professional life after college. George's engagement on campus went beyond just his chapter. He was involved with the Interfraternity Council at Purdue while also serving as president for College Republicans. Looking back, George notes one of his greatest accomplishments was helping bring President Ronald GeorGe Borrello '89 DiscovereD the FounDation oF his career throuGh Phi siGma KaPPa Early Lessons in Politics (Continued on page 4)
