The bride elect is a 2005 graduate of Shasta High School and a 2010 graduate of Shasta College's dental hygiene program. She works as a registered dental hygienist at Cass Family Dentistry in Redding. The prospective groom is a 2004 graduate of Red Bluff High School and 2009 graduate of CSU Chico with a bachelor's degree in Social Science. He earned a teaching credential through National University and works as a Special Education Teacher at Jackson Heights Elementary School in Red Bluff. Marines Corps League raffle Members of the Marine Corps League, Detachment 1140, sold tickets July 14 for a raffle with three prizes. Prizes included gift cards to various businesses who help support the mission of the Marine Corps League to assist with veterans affairs in Tehama County. The detachment provides Honor Guard services for deceased veterans of all branches of the military. They also support the Wounded Warriors Project and other veteran related organizations. Tickets are still available for a suggested $5 donation. Shock, disbelief and bargaining, which later can roll into anger and depression. Tragedies of a larger magnitude may include the physical reactions of stomach nausea, anxiety attacks, breathing problems and nightmares, if and when you sleep. The bottom line is that most people, no matter how prepared or evolved, do not have the skill sets needed to manage tragedy with ease. There has been a lot of tragedy around today. Deaths, illness and legal issues for many community members. These issues not only affect the afflicted, but their family and friends. To the degree you are connected, you feel more or less impact from what is happening around you, but you feel it nonetheless. I have spoken with people, seen their posts on social media and have personally experienced tragedy that I didn't expect and there is no doubt that I am included in the pool of people who feel shell shocked by circumstances in life. One of the things I have seen people do in times of tragedy is surround themselves with people at all times. Initially, after a tragedy, it is the inclination of most people to band together to help, comfort and engage with one another about the issues at hand. People are helpers at heart and pack animals who need to 'do' things to show their support. This humanistic outreach is important to families who often times Diabetes Support Group The Diabetes Support Group meets the first Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at the Coyne Center in the Columba Room.
