The Perch 4 I t is not out of the ordinary to see the members of Epsilon Beta out and about, giving back to their community, excelling academically, participating in extracurriculars, and enriching Chapel Hill as a whole. This year, however, we have lots to be proud of. Academic Excellence With the second-highest panhellenic GPA at a 3.64, our chapter showed that we can have fun, give time to volunteer work, and still maintain excellent academic standards. In addition, we have numerous Morehead Scholars within our sorority across all grades, from Sammy Ferris '22 to Lia Salvetierra '24 and so many more. Other women work as volunteer tutors for children in the Chapel Hill area, giving the gift of academic enrichment to these special kids. We also recently installed a book club, led by Jenny Barger '25, where members meet and discuss some of the best new books and share different perspectives. An Active Chapter Outside of the classroom, you can find many Epsilon Beta sisters representing UNC through athletic programs. We are so proud of women like Lauren Walsh '24 and Caroline Lammersen '24, who are on the rowing team, and Mary Elliot McCabe '22 and Isabel Cox '23 from the women's soccer team. If they aren't on the field, they are working behind the scenes, like Eva Grace Hecht '25, who oversees practice film for the UNC football team, or Riley Watkins '24, who works as a student recruitment officer for the football team. Philanthropic Efforts We have also worked with Make-A-Wish and other organizations this year. We hosted our annual dodgeball tournament for the first time in three years and had the best time raising thousands of dollars for Make-A-Wish of Eastern North Carolina. In addition, this past year we raised money for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation in honor of Pediatric Cancer Awareness month, totaling close to $5,000, and we collaborated with BYX to host a fundraiser for Meals on Wheels of North Carolina. To say we have been busy as of late is an understatement, and this summary only just scrapes the surface when it comes to our involvement and achievements. We have club leaders, women getting stellar internships, and women leading incredible research projects in their fields of study. It has been such an outstanding year, and we are so incredibly proud of all the achievement, perseverance, and energy each one of our members has brought to the table. The sky is truly the limit, and we are looking forward to all the notable achievements that are on the horizon.
