BY GEORGE DICKIE What are your techniques for gaining couples' trust and confidence on "Commit or Quit"? I really do listen. Most people want to be heard and I let people know that I heard them. That's what I used to do when I was a judge putting people in jail and I used to fuss at them all the time and then you could watch their eyes glaze over. So instead of starting out fussing, you start out listening and you make sure you understand and make sure that they know you understand. And once people think they're understood, they'll be very forthcoming. The pair open each episode by listening to stories of exceptional people nominated by their loved ones for a surprise home renovation, then join their expert team to create a remarkable surprise reveal for the de- serving homeowners. InFocus "Dark Winds" (AMC — series premiere, June 12) Adapted from Tony Hillerman's Leaphorn & Chee novels, this new thriller series is set in 1971 on a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation near Monument Valley, Utah. On this rugged turf, Lt. Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClar- non, TV's "Fargo") of the Tribal Police strug- gles to stay on top of a series of seemingly unrelated crimes.
