Our members have excelled academically, with seniors defending their honors theses, completing exciting internships and getting accepted into graduate programs, law schools and medical schools. For the fall 2021 semester, Mississippi Beta proudly had 63 members receive a 4.0 GPA! Twelve of our sisters were recognized by faculty members and named Who's Who nominees for their high academic achievements and contributions to the university. Also, Katelyn Hayward '19 was recently inducted into the 2021-2022 Ole Miss Hall of Fame, one of the highest honors given to Ole Miss students. Members of Mississippi Beta were recognized by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, with Grace McKissick '18 being named Panhellenic Woman of the Year for her outstanding work as Panhellenic president. Additionally, Sarah Brooke Gober Bishop '99 was named Panhellenic Advisor of the Year for her excellent service to Mississippi Beta and the Panhellenic community. Along with her acceptance into medical school, Alex Marby '18 wrapped up her term as Associated Student Body treasurer by passing the new student activity fee. This change will allocate additional funding to student organizations on campus and create more opportunities for student engagement. Multiple chapter members were reelected to their ASB senate seats, and women are continuing to serve in department positions with the student body government. Our sisters have been making an impact near and far, with several members studying abroad and interning across the nation. Kinsey Carlson '19 has spent the spring in Washington, D.C., completing an internship with the U.S. Senate. Four sisters represented Mississippi Beta in the Parade of Beauties, a pageant hosted each spring, and Bella Kraft '20 placed in the top 10. We were excited to return to in-person Champions Are ReadersĀ® programming by partnering with the Leapfrog afterschool program. Additionally, we hosted our traditional Pi Phi Pizookies philanthropy event benefiting the Lafayette Literacy Council and Pi Beta Phi Foundation. The women of Mississippi Beta have served the Oxford/Lafayette community through their service with the Big Event, Grove Grocery and RebelTHON. Members have also displayed their leadership in campus service organizations, with Molly Powers '19 serving on the executive council for the Big Event, Tina Trong '19 serving as president of Grove Grocery and Liz Martin '18 and Lily Henley '19 serving on the RebelTHON executive council. We have displayed our value of Sincere Friendship by offering sisterhood events such as a drive-in movie, coffee shop study sessions, workout classes and gathering for meals in our new dining room space. We are so proud of our accomplishments this semester, and we can't wait to continue excelling as a chapter in our newly renovated and expanded house!
