In this issue, we would like to pause and recognize the lives of those Oregon Beta brothers who have served. While not all made the ultimate sacrifice while defending the freedom of our country, we take the time to honor those who have served and have passed to remember their legacy. Russell Cole '38 served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He passed away in 2012 in Los Angeles, Calif., at the age of 97. Burton Osborn Jr. '43 was a reservist in the U.S. Navy, serving as a pilot assigned to the USS Richmond (CL-9). One memory in particular made me laugh. I was reminded about driving with a full load and heading into a corner, when everyone would begin chanting, "Two wheels, two wheels, two wheels!" I hope that someday soon, we can all see the truck again! Brian Stewart Brian.stewart3@comcast.net escort duty for reinforcement convoys, he was lost at sea and later designated as killed in action.
