3 S igma Chi continues to excel in academics, philanthropy, and chapter involvement, and I am proud of how our members live by the concepts of Friendship, Justice, and Learning. Our chapter officers are excited to share with you how ΣX stays involved. ACADEMICS Scholarship Chairman Aidan Siefkes '24 shares: "Academics at Sigma Chi have been at an all-time high as of late. In the spring 2021 semester, we received an overall GPA of 3.32—the highest our chapter has ever received. The following fall semester, we followed that up with a 3.37 GPA, beating the record we had set the previous year. Both GPAs ranked just below the average GPA for all the fraternities at Kansas State. We are very proud of the improvement we have seen in the past year and are striving to do even better in the following semesters." PHILANTHROPY "We are expecting Derby Days this year to be the best it can be. We are keeping a lot of what has worked well in the past and adding new parts that we think could really go well," said Derby Days Chairman Corbin Panther '25. "Generally, we are very excited to help coordinate a great week for an even greater cause." On Saturday, April 9, we hosted a 3-on-3 sorority basketball tournament with all proceeds supporting the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. "I'm very excited about the upcoming basketball tournament and future events we have in the works for this semester!" said Philanthropy Chairman Drew Powers '25. MEMBERSHIP We are actively recruiting the next class for fall 2022. We look forward to a strong group of men who will embody every aspect of Sigma Chi. "We had an incredible spring class of four men of good character who have settled in well and are looking to make an impact right away," shared Recruitment Chairman Jack Dillavou '24. CHAPTER ACTIVITIES We paired with Tri Delta and Alpha of Clovia for Homecoming with a Footloose theme. We had a fantastic dance, but sadly, we did not take first. All in all, everyone enjoyed Homecoming and representing the house to the campus and the community of Manhattan. MEMBER ACTIVITIES Our brothers enjoy being active on campus! Wyatt Lindsey '24 is the vice president of Alpha Kappa Psi, a business fraternity on campus, and Jake Keller '24 is a member as well. Shane Bergeman '23 and Matt Kennedy '23 are both finance tutors, and Zane Baker '23 is the basketball manager for the K-State men's basketball team. INTRAMURALS Fall sports ended with a high placement in football and soccer. Throughout the fall, we placed fifth overall in individual sports. The spring semester has been going well, with our brothers participating in two intramural basketball teams and one indoor soccer team. "A lot of guys are participating in spring sports, and I'm really excited about what's to come for spring intramurals," shared Jared Patterson '25. ALUMNI/PARENT EVENTS During Alumni Weekend, we attended an event at the Bluemont Hotel, where Chace McIlvaine '23 gave a speech about the chapter's standings. Along with the speech, awards were given to two of our brothers; Larry Fox '76 was inducted into the Order of Constantine and Jim Schroeder '63 was named a Significant Sig. We had a fantastic Dad's Weekend in November and a wonderful Mom's Weekend in the beginning of April. We appreciate our alumni and parents for their dedication to our chapter!
