T ransfer students face a unique challenge in college as they adjust to a new campus. For Jennie King '70, she found her new home at the University of Alabama, after spending her first collegiate year at a girl's school, when two Tri Delta members recruited her. "They showed me that Tri Delta was the place for me and that you were accepted to be whoever you are, inside and outside." Many of the friendships and memories Jennie made through Tri Delta shape who she is today. Delta Mu helped her build a professional foundation, and she is pleased to see the opportunities available to young women in the active chapter. "As an alumna advisor, it has been fascinating to see what the Executive Office has done to help T hank you to the House Corporation officers and board members for allowing me to serve as president for these past three years. Working alongside Tri Delta has been such an exciting and educational experience for me. Because the Tri Delta House operates similar to a small hotel, there are countless aspects that go into its processes; overseeing the house takes a team of alumnae and collegiate members to keep functions running smoothly—not to forget our fabulous House Director Jayne Fisher. Jayne has done a phenomenal job in keeping it all together during these challenging COVID-19 times. We already have a newly elected roster of collegiate officers, and we are electing new officers and board members for the House Corporation in April at our annual and board meetings. The day after the girls leave for the summer in May, we will begin our renovation. The bidding process has begun, and University of Alabama's construction department will lead the charge in getting the work done in time for the girls to arrive back in the house for recruitment. Although the contractors will have to work hastily to reach this goal, we are optimistic that our Tri Delta sisters will revel in the joys of a renovated Tri Delta House this fall. As far as renovation plans, we are starting with the basement as well as the Chapter room. Each project includes rearranging the layout, adding banquettes on several walls, improving the lighting and painting as well as installing new audio and video equipment. As far as other tasks for the basement, we will be refurnishing flooring and molding around doors and floors in the hallways. Additionally, we will be updating the men's and women's restrooms on the main floor. We are thrilled to take on this project, as it will not only boost excitement and morale for members, but it will also help in the coming years during recruitment cycles. Hosting Chapter meetings, collaborating, and thriving are at the top of our to-do list! With this large project, we look forward to sharing updates and progress with our wonderful alumnae. We are hopeful that we can host our board of directors meeting in the renovated house, so stay tuned for photos. 2022 has already had a great start, and we wish you nothing but a joyful year ahead. It has been an honor to serve as House Corporation president for three years. I've lived, I've learned, and I've loved alongside several empowering women. This organization is something I find myself profoundly passionate about, and I can't wait to see the future of our lovely sorority.
