H H H H sigma XI CHAPTER OF SIGMA KAPPA H UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS Spring 2022 Left: Last summer, we remodeled our beloved community space—the dining room. We added new flooring, refreshed paint, and upgraded seat cushions. Thank you to our alumnae for contributing to this project! T he Xi Corporation Board has been impressed by the resilience of active members and the dedication of chapter officers in handling the limitations imposed on them during the past two years. In March, the Corporation Board was pleased to inform chapter members that they would no longer be required to wear masks in the chapter house. The news was a wonderful way to approach the spring! Last summer, the Corporation Board was able to complete a few beautification projects, including refreshing the dining room with new paint, adding new seat covers, revamping floors, and replacing hallway carpets. We have already begun our largest project for this summer, which is having all the brick tuck-pointed. Although this is not a glamorous update, ensuring this project is complete is necessary to maintain the integrity and appearance of the outside walls. We have committed most of Xi's summer budget to this $60,000 project. The Corporation Board is looking into updates that will increase the usefulness of spaces in the house. The chapter's 2014 renovation included creating the library on the first floor; now, we want to make it more usable as a study area. We are choosing designs for beautiful built-in wood cabinets and display cases as well as study spaces along the west wall of the library. Another project in the works is adding basement furniture to create a cute, comfortable reading area in the TV room. The support that you have given Xi is a significant reason for our success in keeping the chapter house attractive—thank you! We've made milestones in progress, and that's because of you! We are continuously appreciative of your dedication, commitment, and support. We hope you will continue to support the Corporation Board's efforts to maintain a beautiful home in which Xi's members can pursue their aspirations.
