Spring 2022 S I G M A P H I E P S I L O N AT C O L O R A D O S C H O O L O F M I N E S THE STOPE M aybe it's the fact I've got a milestone birthday this year. Or maybe it's because one of my business goals this year is to build a stronger professional network. Could it be the recent efforts of some of the other boards I support around town? Whatever the reason, I've found myself in awe about the value of connecting with people that share interests. One latest example was when I signed up with the Oredigger Network. This is a newer program CSM has created to match both students and alumni for mentoring, networking, or just generally connecting. Luke is a current graduate student in the second of three semesters with the Advanced Energy program. He was just looking for early career advice as he heads out into the renewable energy sector. We had a nice chat, and I'll be looking to connect him around town with people I know in that field. Speaking of connection, be sure you come out to support our new tradition of meeting up the Saturday of E-Days, April 23. We're hosting an open house from 1-4 p.m., so you can see all the recent work we've done, reminisce about your time on campus, and maybe share a story with the current undergraduates. Then we'll head to a local watering hole to continue telling stories and catching up. Between this new spring tradition and our typical Homecoming tailgate, we can see each other and, at the very least, rekindle a connection to a brother we may not have spoken with for decades. And speaking of decades … next year marks 10 decades of Colorado Delta. No other SigEp Chapter in Colorado has that longevity on their campus, and the AVC is very excited to celebrate with every alumnus we can in 2023. You can help by reviewing our list of "lost" brothers on page 4 and sending any mailing addresses you may have to dbettenhausen@penningtonco.com! Details to come, but plans are in motion for a major event at CSM's 2023 Homecoming for our 100 year anniversary. But don't wait until then—come out to E-Days on April 23. I look forward to (re)connecting with all of you! Fraternally, Eric Wilson '94 AVC President eric.wilson@thecpigroup.net L ike many young adults beginning their college journey, they can only hope to find a place with mentoring opportunities, wonderful people, an ambitious environment, and a great reputation. Ben Rowse, University of Nebraska '14 found all these things and more once he joined SigEp. Ben recently started volunteering with the Colorado Delta Chapter to help mentor the future of not only the Fraternity, but also society. He's found great joy learning more about how different chapters operate while still adhering to values of being a gentleman and a scholar on campus and in the real world. "SigEp, for me, was the perfect blend of focuses; it is ranked top three academically, is well-recognized for intermural athletics, has a great reputation around campus, and contains a wonderful mix of guys from all over the country," Ben shared. As he reflects on his experience within Greek life, Ben couldn't be more thankful. Approaching his senior year of college, he and six of his SigEp brothers studied abroad in the UK at Oxford. During their studies, they had the chance to travel to neighboring countries. "When we traveled to Barcelona, we ran into a few SigEps studying abroad.
