PAGE 2 Theta Chi Our first attempt at an EC transition workshop on January 15 was thwarted by mother nature's blizzard and COVID's veracity; however, brother Mike Thornton '14 braved I-80 from Chicagoland to Des Moines to work with Whittaker Friedman '23 and a portion of the new EC on their goals. CAB has been impressed with the leadership of Will Krane '22 (former president) and Whittaker Friedman '23, and we are excited to partner with the 2022 EC and assist in building their plans into realities. If brothers are interested in current or future service on the CAB, please contact Tom Olive '85 at tolive818587@gmail.com. New Chapter Advisory Board (Continued from page 1) D uring the 2011 school year, Jim Albert, six-time professor of the year at Drake, chose Theta Chi to head his new foundation to help bring education to kids in Belize. In August 2021, Logan Hock '24 announced to a room full of donors that Gamma Tau Chapter raised $24,000, which meant we were able to send 92 kids to school. We are proud to say that we have one of the best, if not the very best, philanthropy events in all of Greek life. In addition, we raised $1,017 for the USO during our Tater Chi event last November. Even throughout the complications brought on by COVID, our membership and recruitment numbers have stayed consistent. Last fall, we initiated 12 new members, including a senior! The members have already shown great promise in future leadership within the house and are certainly a welcome addition. We hope to gain at least half of our fall numbers this spring to create an even stronger 2025 class. With COVID restrictions loosening up, we were able to host a couple events so far this spring. We recently had a KKΓ and board games day at the house, which was tons of fun for everyone. We are working on getting bowling exchanges planned with several different sororities and fraternities. Brothers volunteered with KKΓ for Meals for the Heartland on a Saturday morning. We hope to have more events like this in the future. This academic year has been a great time for all our brothers in the house to grow even closer. We had some amazing brotherhood events, including a scavenger hunt out at Red Rock Lake just outside of Pella. (We totally didn't cliff dive at the end of it or anything …) In addition to our scavenger hunt, we had a Tastes of the World event where each bedroom in the house made food from their selected country. We also recently had a bowling brotherhood—it seems we have become a bowling house now! Things are looking up in 2022, and all of us here at Gamma Tau hope to set the bar high for the rest of the houses on Greek street. Our new Executive Council was installed in December 2021, and we had three delegates elected to IFC positions. We won awards last year from Outstanding Community Service to Chapter of the Year for Drake University, which we hope to do again in 2022. We look forward to seeing alumni at the house for relays for a belated celebration after all the madness. Roll Chi!
