PA G E 3 Pisburg State University Yell Like Hell 2021 was a huge success thanks to all the diligent efforts of sisters. We are so proud! Courtesy of our wonderful Chapter Advisor, Cathy Duffin Albright '78, sisters had the opportunity to bond at Cathy's house on Grand Lake for a sisterhood event. Fall 2021's formal theme, Wiggin' Out, was a hit. Chi sisters adored the theme and made countless memories! From left: Alyssa Mendoza '19 and Adrea Shadbolt '18. T hroughout the last year, Chi Chapter has been working hard to improve our sisterhood in many ways—and is having fun doing it. We were accredited in 2021. In addition, we were awarded the Prevention Award for our efforts in creating a prevention plan for our chapter that truly promoted the safety of our sisters. Chi Chapter is also working hard in the classroom; at the end of last semester, we were recognized as the leader in GPA amongst all Greek life—far above the all-women's average for grades. Twenty-nine sisters even earned a 4.0 for the fall 2021 semester! As always, Chi Chapter is passionate and dedicated to our philanthropies. One of our more recent philanthropic efforts proved to be one of our most successful. Our foundation chairs coordinated a Running for Robbie 5K, Venmo bingo, and Mr. Robbie Page men's pageant. This semester, our focus will shift toward raising money and awareness for March of Dimes, as we have begun discussing and planning our Dodge for Dimes dodgeball tournament. Our new chairs have been working hard as they plan events for the semester, and we look forward to many events with our local philanthropies, including Mosaic, Sigma Saves, and The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation (T.A.K.E Foundation). Recently, we dedicated time to spread awareness for mental health and suicide prevention and positivity around campus through a Take What You Need board; the board featured our values with notes correlating to each that individuals on campus could stop and take. So far, Chi Chapter has enjoyed plenty of sisterhood bonding this semester through our informal recruitment events. Our chapter hosted pancakes and pajamas, study night, bowling night, game night, and pizza and a Pitt State game. Through these fun activities, we were able to meet some incredible women and invite them into our sisterhood; our informal recruitment efforts will continue. What led to your decision to give to Chi Chapter's Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future capital campaign? Marianne: Chi Chapter has a special place in my heart and will always represent a strength of character in my life. If I can help make that experience more enriching for others, I'm all in. In the spirit of Sigma: constant forward motion. Sisterhood may look a little different to each of us, but the bond lives forever. Audrey: I remember all the fun times that we had in our current chapter house, and I wanted to give back to Chi to help enhance the opportunities of sisterhood. What would you say to any sisters who might be on the fence about giving to the capital campaign? Marianne: It's cliché, but "to receive much, you must give much." That includes time, talents, and financial resources. A gift of any dollar figure is significant; it represents your piece of the whole, and to me, that's a very satisfying legacy. Audrey: It's on us to help maintain the spirit, atmosphere, and opportunities that we were provided. As we say, "to receive much, you must give much," and I would love to uphold that principle. What is the best part about sharing the Sigma sisterhood with your family? Marianne: The bond of sisterhood is empowering. To know that she gets that intangible Sigma spirit is great. Audrey: It has created a lifelong connection with my mom, a sort of shared memory that we will always have together. People always comment that we are very similar, and I think having that extra connection with Sigma has really solidified that.
