Arrow UPDATE C O L O R A D O A L P H A C H A P T E R UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO | SPRING 2022 Setting an Example for Sisterhood TO BE A PI PHI IS TO BE A LEADER P i Beta Phi's core values instill in all of us the power of sisterhood and the importance of relying on one another, whether that's a sister, a close friend or a leader we admire. At Colorado Alpha, we are consistently envisioning, inspiring and empowering a positive environment for our sisters to be their best selves. Enriching our members' personal endeavors and aiding the advancement of our values plays a fundamental role in our personal and intellectual ventures. To become the best version of ourselves, Pi Phi leaders operate under the philosophy of servant leadership; we prioritize serving first, then leading. We lead for the sake of serving our sisterhood and our members rather than for power, status or a personal agenda. To the members of Colorado Alpha, leadership means more than holding a title, whether in the chapter or beyond. Serving as Chapter President allows me to work at being the best leader I can because my sorority sisters inspire me every day. Servant leadership means listening to the chapter and returning their requests gracefully. I just started my role, but so far, leading an organization full of my friends has been a great experience. They support me and the decisions I make, and I am able to incorporate the things they would like to see improved in the chapter. Being Chapter President allows me to be a voice for my peers while also leading them. As "Friends and Leaders for Life," we not only prioritize Sincere Friendship among our members, but we also foster the leadership development of our sisters. By focusing on our value of Personal and Intellectual Growth, we enrich the academic and leadership development of our members, setting them up for success in the future. I have had many great leadership opportunities in the past, but I felt like I was not living up to my leadership potential in college. I was inspired to step up and take on something challenging to get out of my comfort zone. My main goal for Colorado Alpha is to improve communication within the chapter and among the Executive Council. Our sisters don't know everything that's going on if they are not involved in a leadership role, and I want to change that. I aspire to make Pi Phi harmonious and even more enjoyable. At Colorado Alpha, we focus on how we can improve, how we can influence and how we can serve. Our Fraternity's vision commits our sisterhood to "providing lifelong enrichment to our members and contributing to the betterment of society," which inherently calls on us to develop a Lifelong Commitment to leadership and personal development. As a leader, there is no greater joy than seeing improvement in those around us. We are forging our path as a sisterhood, and there's no doubt that Pi Phi will continue fostering leadership values in our members for years to come. I'm proud of my role in supporting servant leadership, and I'm proud of Colorado Alpha for our shared commitment to this mission. In Pi Phi, Ruby Wheeler, Colorado Alpha '21 Chapter President Anna Whitney '19 and Molly Lento '19 celebrating on Bid Day.
