Wonderful served with sliced tomato and avocado and chicken for lunch. • Prep time: 10 minutes • Yield: Serves 6 • 16-ounces frozen petite peas (do not thaw) • 6 ounces smokehouse almonds, rinsed to take off the excess salt, chopped (preferably by hand) • 1/2 cup chopped green onions • 8 ounces chopped water chestnuts • 2/3 cup mayonnaise • 2 tsp yellow curry powder •Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste 1 Remove the excess salt and chop the almonds: In a fi ne-mesh strain- er under cold running water, rinse the almonds to remove the excess salt. Spread between 2 paper towel layers and pat dry. Spread on a cut- ting board, and coarse chop with a large knife. 2 Combine the salad ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk the may- onnaise, curry powder, salt, and pepper until smooth. Add the peas, scallions, and water chestnuts to the bowl. Gently fold the salad into the may- onnaise dressing. Taste and add more salt and pepper, if you like. Refrigerate until ready to serve. 3 Add the almonds: Just before serving, stir in the chopped al- monds. RICHARD ARDEN KESSINGER Richard Arden Kessinger, 82, passed away in Lake Havasu, Ari- zona, on February 3, 2022. He was born in Grand Junction, Colorado, and moved to the small community of Bickleton at the age of fi ve, where his father owned the Bickleton Garage, and his mother later became postmaster. Richard took part in the Boy Scouts, mak- ing it to Eagle Scout. In high school, he was active in band (saxophone), sports, and was a member of the bar- ber shop quartet. After high school, he attended Yakima Junior College. He later joined the Army and was honorably discharged in 1963. After the Army, he settled in Seattle and went to work for Yellow Freight. He was an active member of the Team- sters for more than 45 years. Rich- ard moved to California in 1982 and settled in Quartzsite, Arizona, after retiring in 1997, where he remained until the time of his passing. Richard had a passion for cars and auto racing. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard, and his mother, Evelyn. He is survived by his brother, James; sister-in-law, Gina; step-niece, Lisa, and her three children; Uncle Clyde Rogers of Spo- kane; and cousins living in Washing- ton, Colorado, and California. His ashes will be scattered in the Sonoran Desert near his home. To plant a tree in memory of Rich- ard Kessinger as a living tribute, ROBERT A. 'BOB' DENBOW Robert A. 'Bob' Denbow, 84, passed away February 14, 2022, surround- ed by his loving family. Born in Greenville, Maine, Decem- ber 27, 1937, he was the second of eight children of Eugene Irving and Agatha Blanchard Denbow. In 1958 he married Mary Cath- erine 'Kay' Scott and they went on to have fi ve children. They made their homes in Pittsfi eld, Palmyra, Newport, St. Albans, Welton, AZ, Brenda, AZ, and fi nally back home to Waldoboro. After graduating in 1956 from MCI in Pittsfi eld, he went to work for GE in Massachusetts and in 1957 began his almost 42-year career at Irving Tanning in Hartland. He began at Irving, running the sample wheels and at the time of his retirement, had advanced to Assistant Vice President of Technical Services. Bob and Kay, with friends Keith and Marleen Bubar, founded and ran a woodworking business, St. Albans Slab & Sawdust, where they produce everything from Ca- nadian Rockers to tanning drums for the tannery. Bob loved music, both writing and playing. He played as a lounge en- tertainer at Squaw Mountain Resort and Lovley's Motel. He was also the musical director and organist for the Maine State Junior Miss Pagent. In 2021, they re- turned to Maine. Bob and Kay loved to travel and play Bingo every chance they could. They also liked to garden and produced a lot of vegetables and grapes even though they lived in the desert. In Brenda, Bob really had time to pursue his passion for music. There were several places in town where he could play at a jam almost any day. While living in Arizona, he was a member of fi ve local bands. The last one was the Notables that included his best friend, Chuck Morris. Other than his parents, Bob was predeceased by two sisters. He is survived by his wife of more than 63 years, Kay; his children, Kath- ryn Grant and her husband Peter of Waldoboro, Robert B. Denbow and his wife Michelle of St. Albans, Jeffrey Denbow and his wife Deb- ra of Readfi eld, Peter Denbow and his wife Kim of St. Albans, Carol Millett and her husband Scott of Corinna; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one sister and four brothers, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob requested there be no services at this time. As a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, a Funeral Mass and committal service will be held at a later date.
