2A – Daily News – Tuesday, August 10, 2010 Community people&events Tri-County Sams meet up in McCloud The Tri-County Sams Chapter of the Good Sam Club held their July Campout at Dance Country RV in McCloud, with five member rigs and one guest rig in attendance. A group of the modified old cars from Redding were also camped at the campground and they lined up downtown on Saturday for a car show. Bob and Pearl Divine of Red Bluff were guests for the weekend and are potential new members. On Saturday night we held our regular potluck with the Chapter furnishing barbecued ribs. Trailbosses were Richard Sol and Lisa Bartel- son who decorated using the 4th of July theme. They decorated with blue tablecloths and pop- corn boxes with candy and Teenie Beanies Bears for the ladies and 4th of July Poppers for the men. August 13, 14 and 15 our campout will be held at Mt. Lassen/Shingletown KOA Camp- ground with Vic and Darlene Dickison as Trail- bosses. Mike Friend RV in Chico donated a large love- ly basket of items to our Chapter for our Charity Fund and members are selling tickets. Anyone owning a self-contained RV that would like to go on monthly campouts with a great small group of people are encouraged to call Wagon Master Vic Dickison at 824-3081 or President Richard Sol at 385-1344. Jellys Ferry delays today Caltrans will be doing bridge inspections from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today on Jellys Ferry River bridge, 7.9 miles northeast of Interstate 5. Expect delays of up to 30 minutes. Country Stuffed Mushrooms Tehama County CattleWomen will be partnering with the Down- town Red Bluff Business Associa- tion to present a Beef ‘N Brew tast- ing event on Sept. 18 in downtown Red Bluff. The recipe for Country Stuffed Mushrooms is from Lassen County CattleWomen “A Taste of Beef, Sip of Wine” beef appetizer cookbook. 75 mushrooms; purchase bite- sized, firm, white button mush- rooms. Extra virgin olive oil Salt and pepper to taste 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef 3 cloves garlic, minced 2 8 oz packages softened cream cheese 1 package ranch dressing mix Over medium heat brown ground beef, adding garlic half way through. Cool. With a fork combine cream cheese and ranch dressing mix and add cooled beef mixture. Preheat oven to 400 F, remove the stems from the mushroom caps. Use a damp cloth or mushroom brush to clean the mushrooms. Daring Bear Has Porkchops Near Lennondale A bear got in his deadly work near Lennondale in Battle creek canyon a few days ago when he feasted on one of Bill Glines' fattest porkers. Bruin was auda- cious in his work, the scene of his feast being near the home of Glines. It is said that the daring of this bear has sent the price of town lots in Lennondale boom- ing, as none but the hardiest and most wreckless of pioneers are locating at Lennondale. — Daily News, Aug. 10, 1920 Davis, Diane Ampi and Trish Jantzen of Pre- mierWest Bank's Red Bluff branch, the bank has continued the long tradition of significant support for the Tehama County branch of Poor and the Homeless. PremierWest have been Golden Table Sponsors several times at PATH'S Big Dinner/Auction fundraiser, and they have made several large dona- tions to PATH over the years. With their help, as well as many other sup- porters, PATH has been able to improve the lives of many of Tehama County's homeless, said Allene Dering. PATH has three main programs, The PATH Winter Shelter, which rotates through several of Red Bluffs churches; Pathways, a transitional housing program for sin- gle men; and the newest program, the PATH Sale House, a transitional housing program for women and children. All of the programs are functioning well, and PATH has many suc- cess stories, Dering said. Marine Corps League Annual Picnic The Red Bluff Marine Corps League's Annual Pic- nic will be Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Durango RV Park Recreation Center in Red Bluff. All active and veteran Marines and their immediate fam- ilies are invited. Come share your stories and enjoy good Marine camaraderie along with hamburgers and hot dogs. All you past league members, come let us know what's been happening in your life. We are always happy to meet active and veteran Marines of Tehama and surrounding counties. The Red Bluff Marine Corps League sponsors the Red Bluff Young Marines along with several other pro- grams to help Marine veterans' programs. Scholarships The Shasta Gem and Mineral Society, Inc. announces it will be awarding two academic scholar- ships in the amount of $1,000 each, to eligible stuidents PATH is very proud of the people in our pro- grams who succeed and become productive members of the commu- nity. Many of them volun- teer in the community as well as for PATH. Some of them have become members of the PATH Board of Directors and fill positions of respon- sibility, she said. Tehama Friends of NRA The Tehama County Friends of the NRA will be holding a fundraiser dinner at 6 p.m. Friday at Rolling Hills Casino in Corning.
