Family owned and operated, Piled High Grill boasts a wide variety of burgers, wraps, and quesadillas in Huntsville. With such an expansive menu, it's highly recommended by owner Jennifer Owens that you "bring your appetite." No matter what you choose – whether it be the fan-favorite bacon cheeseburger, the ooey- gooey Philly cheesesteak, or the special quesadillas – you're guaranteed to leave with a full stomach. Customers who've visited the food truck at Redstone Arsenal's Food Corral, Cummins Research Park Food Truck Fest, and other community events can likely vouch for this fact. Owens' business worked to stay afloat during the start of the pandemic. Piled High Grill kept busy by answering calls from employees and businesses to serve those working from home. Using preventative measures, masks, and constant sterilization, they were able to safely interact with and serve customers. Since she cashed her first paycheck with Redstone, Owens says she and her business have benefited financially from her 34-year relationship with Redstone, and she doesn't expect that to change. You can reach Piled High Grill at 256-348-8151, thepiledhighgrill@ gmail.com, or @thepiledhighgrill on Facebook. Whether it be savory, sweet, or salty, What's Popp'N provides a variety of fresh popcorn flavors to new and recurring customers. Lisa Jackman-Shiver opened What's Popp'N 10 years ago in a storefront and, since then, has expanded to food trucks. Although savory flavors like dill pickle, kettle, and white cheddar are, by far, the most popular, Jackman-Shiver never tires of coming up with new flavors and options for customers. Even she struggles sometimes to decide which treats will make the cut on the food truck because "everyone's taste buds are different." So, what does she do? She asks loyal customers, friends, and family members for flavor suggestions. Like many food businesses, What's Popp'N faced a few challenges over the past two years. However, she pivoted and opened grab-and-go locations. She now spins out her own concoctions from her Hartselle, AL, production site, allowing her to create in batches and distribute not only on the truck, but also in stores. Replacing her Huntsville storefront with grab-and-go locations was a significant change that began from a curbside system she created at the start of the pandemic. It has worked well. Now, with summer around the corner, the popularity of her food truck and grazing bar are at an all-time high. Connect with What's Popp'N for any events on Facebook @WhatsPoppN and on Instagram @whatspoppnhsv. Jennifer Owens, Piled High Grill owner, in front of the truck.
