MARCH 2022 RETAILOBSERVER.COM 39 STK Luxe Black & White — The project objective was to create an elevated cabaña kitchen for entertaining guests poolside, and incorporating a contemporary style for a dramatic luxe look. A sophisticated kitchen design and open living space were created for multigenerational use. The unfinished basement was remodeled into a multi-use entertaining space with an open kitchen and living room that looks out to the pool, guest bedroom suite and luxury bathroom, home gym and sliding glass doors that connect the kitchen to the patio. Radiant heat flooring was added for winter comfort. The 16-ft.-high ceilings were utilized while concealing the mechanical systems. The kitchen island offers additional seating for guests during gatherings or family dinners. Modern multi-slide patio doors were specified for the kitchen-to-patio and living room-to-pool deck to help blur the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces. The understated custom black wood panel hood fits in with the design aesthetic and is a good contrast with the white cabinetry. Brass accents in the kitchen add a touch of elegance, such as the pendant lighting, faucet and hardware. The kitchen has two sliding doors in a large opening to close it off, keeping that part of the home cool while indoor/outdoor entertaining space is in use, while the outdoor covered space has heaters, a fan, lighting, a fireplace and BBQ area for use in all types of weather. Durable and industrial-looking Dekton covers the bar area that is half inside and half outside; it makes for a useable space in both the outdoor and games room at all times. The mitered waterfall edge adds some cool factor and frames the bar. The indoor fireplace is a custom three-sided glass model with no metal framing seen. Dimmable lighting inside and outside with coffered LED-lit ceilings inside offer lighting options for different times of day. All lighting is on a smart home programmable system. There are multiple TVs for optimal sports viewing whether outside, playing a game, or relaxing in media area and access to a special outdoor bathroom so wet kids and pets can stay outside.
