Together we served 266 people. That is amazing! Congratu- lations to all that volunteered! The Gem & Mineral club offers sev- eral scholarships to qualifi ed lo- cal students going on to college or trade/technical schools. We raise money for these scholarships by offering fundraising events with local music groups providing en- tertainment and other events such as dinners and raffl es. Usually, we can offer two or three scholarships a year to our local graduating senior students. At the music events, we also have additional fundraisers including a silent auction and drawings for do- nated items. Most of these items are handmade by our members and do- nated for the drawings. A big thank you to everyone who came out to support us in our new place, the Quartzsite Community Center. This show included a guest visitor that happened to look just like one of my Indian paintings, Nordie Two Feathers, Don Nordell. He dressed the part and shared his stories. I wish to bring him joy in these frag- ile years to share in being part of the show. I did not know this per- son when the painting was painted. It is mystical and has changed his life. He had a stroke last year. Yet the draw to Quartzsite helped him recover and the painting of himself, so he says. The Quartzsite Art Guild designed itself with the Desert Brushes Guidelines. I learned a lot there and the people and guests' en- couragement is beyond measure and why I continue to paint today. We accommodated artist Marie LeBlanc with a booth outside.
