2 Sigma Kappa B eta Tau's 2022 is sure to be a formative year for our chapter! Over winter break, our newly elected officers worked diligently to plan a full spring schedule for our members. Vice President of Programming Nicole Wasserman '19 planned interactive chapter programming centered around our core values. Additionally, Vice President of Membership Amelia Schouten '19 held a recruitment workshop for our new members to get them acclimated to the chapter and prepared for spring recruitment. Spring recruitment occurs during January and February, when we meet potential new members in a more informal setting than in the fall. I speak for all Beta Taus when I say we look forward to welcoming many more inspiring women into our sisterhood! We are also looking forward to our Sigma Stacks philanthropy event on February 18, with proceeds benefiting the Sigma Kappa Foundation. Sigma Stacks is a breakfast for dinner event where students and community members can buy a ticket and eat at the Sigma Kappa house! Two main goals I have for the chapter this year are strengthening our membership retention and creating clear channels of communication from our members to our officers. Due to COVID-19, college life has looked and felt extremely different for a while. Coming back last fall to an environment where we can plan events safely is something that everyone truly benefits from. I would like to see our sisters enjoy this semester through the service and sisterhood events we have planned. By continuing to create an environment where sisters can feel appreciated and welcome, the bonds of our sisterhood will last longer than just our four years at UF. I hope Beta Tau continues establishing a chapter culture where sisters feel comfortable coming to chapter officers when they need help; following up on issues sisters have brought up to me and keeping conversations confidential have made an insurmountably positive difference. I look forward to working with my executive council and fellow chapter members to make these goals a reality!
