4 OREGON ALPH A T he recruitment team and the rest of membership did an excellent job during Summer and Fall recruitment to bring in a great group of 39 new members to join the brotherhood of Oregon Alpha. We have continued to excel in the classroom, and our house GPA has proven this. We achieved the highest GPA out of all the fraternities at Oregon State every term last year; in Fall 2020, our house GPA was 3.43, in Winter 2021 it was 3.47, and in Spring 2021 it was 3.38. We plan to stay at the top of the leaderboard as we progress throughout this academic year. We also had brothers giving back to the community, innovating in business, and helping us raise funds for philanthropies around campus. Andrew Monkarsh '25 recently performed in Delta Gamma's Anchor Splash pageant and displayed his exemplary piano skills as he performed for a crowd of hundreds of people. Zach Brentano '23 has been working with the coaching staff for the local football team and enjoys the opportunity to contribute to a team that he grew up watching. Tristan Barrett '24 has been living in San Francisco while innovating in the cryptocurrency and blockchain environment. We continue to work to address the many impacts of COVID. As noted, recruitment was successful; however, we continue to operate with chapter house occupancy far below desired levels at about 60% of normal. Historically, the university allowed new members wishing to do so the ability to move into the chapter house— this program was rescinded this summer. We will be adding residents as the year progresses, with both the desire and expectation to achieve full occupancy in Fall 2022. is Fall, there was an improvement in morale as the university started to open again and slowly returned to normal. e university is transitioning everything back to in-person, and the IFC has allowed in-person social events again. It is a huge relief for our chapter, as the surge of events is bringing our members closer and getting them more involved in the house and community. Our wonderful chef, Sara, has returned this year, and it is great to see our dining room filled again for daily meals. Our chapter meetings have been livelier, as we have also brought back formal chapter dinners. We are looking forward to what the rest of the year has to offer and will continue to do our best to excel and make Oregon Alpha proud. We are aware and appreciative of the legacy and support alumni provide us. I write this as my term as president concludes; I appreciate the hard work of my fellow executive members and brothers throughout my term. ank you all.
