3 Delta Kappa Epsilon R yan Logue '03 received several fraternity bids as a freshman, but few of those houses were a match for Delta Kappa Epsilon in one particular trait: diversity. "Some of the fraternities had strong reputations, but a somewhat narrow focus," Ryan explained. "DKE had a much broader spectrum of individuals and interests." From there, the quality of the new member education combined with a distinct lack of hazing activity further sold Ryan on the brotherhood that would give him invaluable leadership experience. Ryan's younger brother, Sean Logue '05, took notice, and the family was thrilled when he chose to attend Colgate and join Mu of DKE as well. Born 18 months apart, the Logue brothers grew up close and had many mutual friends; Sean got to know several Mu brothers before college. That strong impression made DKE an easy choice for him as a freshman. "DKE always stressed that we're not just another beer lodge," Sean said. "It reinforced values I already held, such as loyalty and service." The brothers already had different personalities, but Mu helped them find their own personal identities through shared values. Both young men even became Chapter president in their undergraduate years. During Ryan's presidency, DKE was in the process of regaining its house and rebuilding its relationship with the university. Ryan worked closely with members (both current and alumni) as well as university administration to bridge the gap between the two viewpoints and get Mu Chapter back to full recognition. This involvement with high-level communication, while at times challenging and frustrating, provided Ryan with experience that was directly applicable and helpful to him in his career. To this day, Sean is honored to share the title of president with his older brother. "When you look back through the DKE ledgers, you'll always see that Ryan and Sean Logue were linked as brothers and presidents—I think that's pretty unique." After college, Ryan and Sean both began their financial careers in New York. Sean returned home to Pennsylvania about 10 years ago to work at their father's financial business. Ryan worked in wealth management at Morgan Stanley for 17 years, then in 2019 he joined his father and brother in the family business. Since Sean joined, they have grown from managing about $200 million to about $450 million. "It's a small office with the three of us and our two assistants," Sean described. "It's been neat to build on what our father has already created and keep a great thing going." The Logue brothers are both grateful for the networks and brothers they gained through Colgate and DKE. Those networks helped Ryan start his career, and he happily hired several DKEs in the years to come. Similarly, Sean feels fortunate to have lived near many brothers in New York. They advise fellow alumni to utilize those networks and figure out what makes them happy in life. Both enjoy lots of family time as well as time spent with Mu brothers. A Bond Strengthened by DKE What Mu Means to the Logue Brothers "When you look back through the DKE ledgers, you'll always see that Ryan and Sean Logue were linked as brothers and presidents." –Sean Logue '05
