Eats By Erin Rowe Football really is that engulfing sport that unites us all behind one cause– much like Soccer is for other countries around the world. is great American gridiron embodies the melting pot of our cultures and states gathered around a common game. Heck, people that don't watch football all year will still show up to a game day party! Because it's not just about who wins or loses for everyone; it's about getting together and finding a reason to celebrate traditions this time of year. Some families and circles can't host the celebration without a cast iron skillet full of buffalo chicken dip or lemon pepper wing (my recipes included here) or some jalapeno poppers here in the south. Ultimately, you'll find yourself cheering for a team, picking a side and watching the ups and downs of touchdowns, field goals and fumbles with your nearest and dearest. And that's what really counts and makes the point spread. Over the years, I've become especially fond of the half-time show and the commercials in between the plays. Companies pay millions for a 15-second spot on game day. I'd recommend making it more fun this year with my version of Commercial Bingo. Use our board here, or make your own, featuring squares for commercial viewing like: advertising Coke or Pepsi; featuring funny animals; heartwarming ad; not comedic; commercial with a great song; Levi ad; featuring 2 non-related celebrities; advertises a cleaning product; and vintage style (similar to Tide's last year). It can be fun to watch the commercials as a group of family or friends, as much as viewing the winning teams battling it out on the field. Whether you back the winning team or not this year, it's my hope that this game day brings with it all the food, festivities and fun you can pack into a great gathering. at's something to truly cheer about! Get your Gin & Juice Since Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre are part of the half-time entertainment at this year's game day festivities, it wouldn't be proper to bench a drink popularly referenced in song. For the perfect cocktail to cheer them on, pour any juice (I prefer grapefruit or orange) 3 parts into a glass filled with ice with 1 part gin and stir well. Garnish with grapefruit or orange slice. en, just let it chill…'til the next episode. on!
