4A Daily News – Wednesday, July 17, 2013 Commerce business&enterprise Chamber Ambassadors going strong As a charter member of the Red Bluff-Tehama County Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Committee, I just have to say, it's such an awesome privilege to be a part of this team. We've been doing this for just over a year now, and our group has definitely grown in number in that time! Right now, our members include Chris Goddard, Debbie Goddard, of Umpqua Bank, Cheryl Weibling, of the Comfort Inn, Kitt Condrey-Miller, or Hard Drive, Dave Bartle, of Shasta.com, Lois Rogan, of Coldwell Banker, Laura Burgdoff, ServPro NorthShasta Lisa Noftz, of ServPro North Shasta and Tehama, Dan Skaggs, of Brentwood Skilled Nursing, Scott Camp of North Valley Baptist Church, and myself, Valerie Shaw, of Express Employment Professionals. To anyone who is not sure exactly who we are, or what we do, allow me a brief explanation. Basically, we are here to do whatever it is you need us to do. You'll see us at various Chamber functions, helping out wherever needed. We attend the ribbon cuttings the Chamber holds for new openings of its members, you can almost always spot us at Good Morning Red Bluff, the last Thursday of every month, and as many other events as the Chamber hosts. We'll be inviting people to Chamber events, and offering to introduce you around if you're unsure of whom everyone is. If you see one of us anywhere and have any questions about the Chamber, we would be happy to help. If we don't know the answer, we will find out for you. But we're not just here for new members. We want each Chamber member to feel connected, so even if you've been in the Chamber for years, don't be surprised if you find us popping in to say hi. With the great number of Chamber members, it may take us awhile to get to everyone, so if you want us to come see you specifically, just let us know and we'll make sure someone gets right out to you. The Ambassadors have also decided to help out with Jessie Woods' Food From the Heart Fund Drive, by having one of her donation cans at the Chamber Fireworks Booth, down at Belle Mill Landing. We believe in Red Bluff. This is a wonderful community to be a part of, and we want to see it grow. The Chamber is a great asset to our community. Since joining a year ago, I have made many new friends, and met many people who have helped me in my business, or have given me opportunity to help them in theirs. It gives me a sense of belonging to the community. If you are not a member, and would like information on how to become one, if you are a member, and want more information on upcoming events, or if you are interested in joining the Ambassador Team, you can contact me at valerie.shaw@expresspros.com, and I would be happy to assist you. Farmers Market tonight The Chamber Farmers Market 5-8 tonight. Fresh produce, food and services. Listen to music from the LTD Band. We want to let them know how much we appreciate their loyalty and support through the years. We hope you will thank them by supporting their businesses. 25 Years Moore & Pascarella, A Dental Group 10 Years Valley Yellow Pages 5 Years Prime Cinemas Red Bluff Tobin & Associates Tehama County Cattlewomen Tehama County Department of Education Redding hospital names new CEO REDDING — Mike Sarian, president of operations for Prime Healthcare, has named Cyndy Gordon, RN, BSN, MBA as Shasta Regional Medical Center's new CEO, replacing retiring CEO Randall Hempling effective in September. Diane Bailey, Assistant Superintendent of the Corning Union Elementary School District will be the guest speaker at this meeting. The new standards are for grades k-12. Proponents of CCSS say that the new standards are more rigorous, opponents say that isn't true. Many school districts are implementing the standards without any public knowledge or comment. The Corning Patriots are providing a venue for the public; to learn about the standards that will now be a very big part of our children and grandchildren's lives. The meeting on the 18th will provide the proponents side to speak to the public. On the 25th the opponents will have their turn to give their side of the issue. The second meeting will also be held at the Corning Senior Center, 6 p.m. The community is invited to come out and hear what our children and grandchildren will be taught, what is considered by our government to be the new accepted standards of education. Will our future generations be bright shining stars? Come listen, ask questions, and form your own opinions.
