Born in Cleveland County on June 27, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Dewey Walker and Eva Parker Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Clifford Willis; three broth- ers, Boyd Walker, Howard Walker and Gene Walker and an infant sister, Margie Walker. Survivors include one son, Kenny Willis and wife Nita of Casar; one daughter, Wanda Spurling and husband Darrell of Lawndale; one brother, Will Walker of Casar; and four grandchildren. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Olive Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terrill Crump officiating. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Arnold and Madge Philbeck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Buford, JC and Jim Philbeck; and sister, Marie Sanders. He is survived by his wife, Della Bridges Philbeck of the home; daughters, Angie Cathey and husband Allen and Christy Bridges and hus- band Justin; son, Rodney Philbeck, all of Shelby; sis- ter, Gert Knox of Grover; brother, G.C. Philbeck of Kings Mountain; his moth- er-in-law, Hazel Keeter of Shelby; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild on the way. Born in Lincoln County, on April 23, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John Joesph "Jody" Neason and Louella Neal Neason. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant brother. Survivors include her hus- band of 35 years, Dennis Larry Morrison; two sons, Donald Whisnant Jr. and wife, Nita of Lawndale and David Whisnant and wife, Lois of Lawndale; daughter, Elaine Wilson and husband, Paul of Lawndale; stepchil- dren, Dennis Morrison, Cissy Allen and husband, Larry and Melanie Humphries; nine grandchildren, four step- grandchildren, eleven great- grandchildren two step-great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren. The family will hold private services at a later date. MARTY JIM SMITH Marty Jim Smith, age 52 of Cherryville, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021. He was born March 9, 1969 in Cleveland County to Norma Jean Brittain Smith and the late Marvin Smith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents. Survivors include his mother, Norma Jean Smith; brother, Namon Wesley Smith. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Carpenter- Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Francis was born Friday, May 24, 1929 in Mondamin, Iowa to the late Carl J. Smith and Alma Bolch Smith. He served in the Post World War II era in Japan and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jeff Smith and Kevin Smith; a grandson, and three brothers and two sisters. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Patricia B. Smith; two sons, Steven Smith (Susan) of Vale, Oregon and Todd Patrick Smith (Lynn) of Mooresboro. In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in death by his brothers, Yates Lee Greene, Jr. and Joseph Greene, his sister, Mary Greene Wilson, brother-in- laws, Walter Kale, Percy Kale, Jr. and Jonny A. Swink. Roy served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Roy is survived by his wife Mary Ann Kale Greene, son Roy Greene, Jr. (Sandra) of Lattimore, NC., two grand- sons, and a great-grandson.
