The start of a new year is a great time to
experience a classic series from the beginning ...
and since Hallmark Channel has been 24/7 with
holiday movies in recent weeks, that outlet is taking
the opportunity to restore repeats of "The Golden
Girls" by restarting that popular comedy from the
beginning on Sunday, Jan. 2.
The antics of senior Miami housemates Dorothy,
Sophia (Dorothy's mother), Blanche and Rose
– respectively played by Beatrice Arthur, Estelle
Getty, Rue McClanahan and Betty White – begin
as Sophia joins the other women after the loss of
her retirement home, and saucy Blanche weighs
a marriage proposal. As written by Susan Harris
and directed by sitcom veteran Jay Sandrich, this is
pretty much a perfect pilot episode.
