3 Brothers Tom Hamlin '83, Robert Eckart '73, and Mike Greenberg '15 carry on important work at the end of the day. Brother Leroy Pfaff '71 tries to convince us that he is working. A lthough the pandemic seems to be declining, regulations and a risk mitigation plan are essential to prevent cases of COVID-19. The Delta Psi Chapter of Sigma Chi has consistently had an exemplary COVID response plan at RPI, and this semester is no different. All brothers are required to be fully vaccinated, and guests are required to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result from the past 24 hours. Furthermore, work sessions are scheduled multiple times a week to ensure all surfaces are disinfected and clean for brothers and guests. With these precautions in place, we have successfully hosted weekly chapter and EC meetings in person without issue. As student life has gradually returned to normal, the Delta Psi Chapter has increased our campus presence through recruitment and philanthropy. The 59th annual Haunted House drew hundreds of visitors from students and the local Troy community without any COVID complications, and successfully reestablished our presence in RPI and the local community. Overall, the Sigs at RPI are modeling the return to normalcy post-pandemic, opening the horizons for this chapter and the fraternity. We look forward to what comes next. In hoc, Diane Pulvino '12 dianepulvino@gmail.com O n Friday, August 27, nearly 20 alumni and most of the active brotherhood converged for two days of focused efforts to spruce up the Pomeroy Chapter House. The true work had begun nearly two months earlier, as Phi Epsilon Phi Secretary Mike Greenberg '15 hosted a series of Zoom meetings to coordinate everything. Consul Connor O'Brien '22, current and past House Managers Will d'Entremont '22 and Brit Douglas '22, John "Leroy" Pfaff '71, Larry "Mom" Heininger '77, and many others were instrumental in planning. Aside from the time spent making fun of Mike, those sessions were focused on what needed to be done, what materials were needed, and which alumni and actives could work most efficiently on each project. The "early bird" group, led by Tom Hamlin '83, got started on scraping the front porch railing, and the mulch pile was delivered. I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the efforts of the active chapter, who cleared out a lot of clutter last spring. It was a big help in launching the serious work of the weekend! On Friday, we deployed the largest crews to work on cleaning up the yard and landscaping, which were rough after two years of neglect. I think the crew pulled at least 10,000 weeds, and who knew we were going to need two chainsaws! Brother Heininger discovered that the neighbors had a barn behind those lilacs we planted a few years ago. Other crews fanned out across the house to work on light fixtures, plumbing problems, air filters, kitchen cleaning, and all the other things that go into maintaining a 30-plus-bedroom, eight- bathroom house! At the end of the weekend, the transformation was remarkable, and our home at 58 Pinewoods stood proudly ready as the RPI suspension was finally lifted and the brotherhood swung back into action. In hoc, Gary Stottler '82 gpstottler@gmail.com • Removed dead elm tree along right side of driveway. • Replaced two gas hot water heaters. • Replaced 8-year-old washer and dryer with new machines. • Repaired sprinkler line in the side yard. • Repaired failed solenoid valve in the chapter room water fountain. • Repaired the kitchen meat slicer. • Repaired cracked toilet tank in second floor bathroom. • Repainted the front porch railing. • Added Significant Sigs Jim Straw '68, Al Lubrano '71, and John Ulm '78 to the Pomeroy Anvil. The House Maintenance Blotter June-October 2021 Brother Winston Yu '20 demonstrates that more power is better. Is Ready! Sigma Chi Guards Against COVID
