Mu Chapter Strand of Pearls 2 A lpha Epsilon Phi was awarded the Fraternity and Sorority Affairs Outstanding Chapter of the Year in 2020! This award means that we exemplify successes and achievements that are worth noticing. Alpha Epsilon Phi hosts a variety of activities and events that we always look forward to! Along with our events, we have developed a community where our members feel a strong connection with one another. We give our members the foundations to thrive in our chapter and at the University of Illinois, by planning sisterhood, self- betterment, and senior events. These opportunities help sisters bond with fun activities like picnics, seasonal parties, and games. Our programs ensure everyone gets to meet people from each member class and feels comfortable within the chapter. Through our detailed recruitment practices, potential new members can best understand who we are as an organization and what we stand for. This practice and hard work brought us 28 new members this year! AEPhi effectively communicates to chapter members the philanthropic opportunities within Greek life and the campus community. We also plan one event and one dinner per semester to support one of the philanthropies that our chapter works with. The two philanthropies we are so fortunate to support are Sharsheret and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation. We also give our new members the opportunity to experience a six-week new member process filled with team bonding, sisterhood gatherings, and acclimating with Alpha Epsilon Phi as a whole. We also have our weekly meetings, called Phi Nights, which allow the new members to get together, catch up, and participate in fun activities and adventures with their new sisters. The new members were initiated in mid- November and are now true and forever sisters of Alpha Epsilon Phi. Academics are a priority in AEPhi; with daily study hours and academic workshops, our members have great resources that can give them the tools they need to succeed. We greatly appreciate the community we have built and the friendships that will last a lifetime.
