Pi Beta Phi, University of Minnesota P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested P B F 1890 O n August 27, sisters were finally able to come back home to Pi Phi! We anticipated that this fall would be full of energy as we moved back to campus during Spirit Week, but we never fully imagined how wonderful it would feel to be back with our sisters, working hard and having fun. This year we were able to decorate our yard and welcomed 450 Potential New Members to our home in a hybrid version of recruitment. While we would have liked to be in person for the whole week, we were grateful to have our first two days of recruitment in a virtual environment and then hold an in-person event for the last two days. Our success in relaying what Pi Beta Phi is all about became evident as we welcomed 27 new angels to Minnesota Alpha. Despite the obstacles surrounding the pandemic that the sisters on the recruitment team had to overcome, they spread their angel wings and rose to the occasion. We are grateful for Eva Metz '18, Anna Pins '18 and Jenna Damico '19, who all did a phenomenal job leading our Fall 2021 recruitment. We are thankful for everyone who planned, supported and executed this important event! We look forward to finding meaningful ways to involve our New Members and become a part of their accomplishments during their college careers. In October, we held one of our favorite annual events: Pie a Pi Phi. Our goal for this year was to top last year's achievement of $3,232 for Read > Lead > Achieve ® . It is always fun to see so many Pi Phis willing and ready to get pied! Sisterhood spreads through our chapter with organized and spontaneous opportunities to be Sisterhood Remains Stronger Than Ever Active Sisters Rise to the Occasion and Excel Despite Obstacles together — from hosting a bracelet-making event to a night with Nautical Bowls. Last spring, we participated in our Angels in the Outfield philanthropic event, and this fall we look forward to activities such as Pi Phi date parties, walks to the Stone Arch Bridge, group fitness classes and Homecoming events with our partner fraternities. We were so excited to host our traditional big/ little reveal and Initiation in mid-October, and we continue to find creative ways to provide sisterhood experiences for everyone. We are thrilled to report that, last spring, we held the highest Greek GPA at the University of Minnesota. Several sisters achieved a 4.0, and even more women made the Dean's List for their respective majors. We are so proud of everyone's accomplishments and are excited to see what this year holds for our chapter. House Director Jan Vanek has been extremely helpful with the leadership she has provided, especially in recent months. We also are working hard to uphold our mission to support a lifelong love of reading that can unlock true potential, creating a more literate and productive society.
