Alpha Tau Omega -
Gamma Upsilon -
Iowa State University
A
nother year, another True Merit Bowl—yes, the chapter
earned another one this August!
Your Gamma Upsilon fact of the day: Did you know
that with our most recent True Merit Bowl, the chapter is
only one away from matching its all-time streak of seven
consecutive True Merit Bowls from 1976-82? I know
they're up for it, and I'm excited to see the record matched
this time next year.
Besides the hardware, I'm told the chapter's overhaul in
their website was widely praised by other ATΩ chapters.
Please take a moment to stop by www.atoisu.com to check
out those efforts.
I'm hoping you made it to the alumni tailgate on
November 6! Our next issue will have highlights from
the game, and I welcome all to send your pictures (please
include names and initiation years) to admin@atoisu.com.
We'd love to share some moments of alumni returning to
Iowa State to celebrate and enjoy their brothers.
We hope to build on this event and make this an annual
spotlight for years to come. If you'd like to get involved in
planning or have suggestions/feedback, please pass your
thoughts along to the aforementioned email.
As we look to make improvements to our communication
database, I want to draw attention to the chapter's
private LinkedIn group. Search for "Alpha Tau Omega
- Gamma Upsilon - Iowa State University" and request
entry to join. Our undergraduate members are ramping
up for their graduations (both fall and spring) and would
welcome an opportunity to network with our great alumni
base. Helping a brother today could cause a ripple effect
for generations to come and set the standard of what
Gamma Upsilon is all about. Please consider doing so, and
I hope you and yours are safe and well!
Love and Respect,

hen Isaac Silver '13 first pledged at Iowa
State University, he had no intention of
joining Greek life. He was introduced to Alpha
Tau Omega through one of his best friends and
found that not only did he get along with the
members, but the fraternity also changed his
perspective of things.
"I learned a lot about how people grew up in
different places, not just in Iowa, but across the
Midwest, the country, and the world," Isaac said. "Being
able to not just go to college, but also have a connection
with people that I might not have otherwise met has
impacted me so much."
No one from Isaac's family was in Greek life,
so when Isaac joined ΑΤΩ, his parents fully
embraced it and loved that he met so many
great people through the fraternity. Isaac has
many memories of his time in the chapter house,
including Homecoming and Greek Week. One
special memory was when the chapter participated
in Dance Marathon.
"It was really awesome to have experienced
that with the chapter, and I think that it expanded a lot of
perspectives for people in the house. People take so many
things for granted, and we should be grateful for what we
have," Isaac said. "Seeing eyes light up when they saw
