The MS Beta Post PAGE 4 expanded due to the growing chapter size. "We need this renovation to continue the Mississippi Beta Chapter at Ole Miss," Callie said. "The house could no longer accommodate everyone, so I donated to help my sisters." In August 2021, Callie was selected to serve as the Region 6 Finance/Housing Specialist, so she will continue to work with the Chapter House Corporation (CHC) and the chapter to see this renovation through, but from an additional angle. Callie has been working at the IRS since graduating and has been promoted to supervisory tax specialist, where she manages a group of 10 auditors as well as one secretary. Her time with the IRS has improved her communication skills and her ability to handle difficult or uncomfortable situations. Outside of work, Callie and her Pi Phi little sister enjoy traveling together. In 2015 they, along with Callie's big sister, were able to take a special trip to Greece. "Enjoy the time living with your sisters in the same house or same city," Callie advises members. "After graduation, you will wish you could go back." Callie has one fur baby, Maggie, who is a 13-year-old Lab/husky mix. She also has four nephews, one niece and a bonus niece. She enjoys watching sports — especially the Rebels — and reading and playing with Maggie. You can connect with Callie at callierutherford5@gmail.com. SUPPORTING PI PHI'S LONG-STANDING VALUES (Continued from page 3) A s we adapt to our new normal, Mississippi Beta continues to find creative ways to come together as a sisterhood. We are thankful we have had the opportunity to host philanthropy and social events; we've even hosted weekly chapter meetings fully in person. Adjusting to a house under construction has not been easy, but we have made the best of it by finding new ways to gather for meals and meetings. We are still hosting monthly family style dinners for all our members to share a meal like we have in the past. During the spring, we hosted a drive-thru version of Pi Phi Pizookies and raised over $18,000 for Read > Lead > Achieve ® . In September, Panhellenic held its annual CASA Encore and the women of Mississippi Beta raised $25,598 to support CASA of Lafayette County. In October, we hosted an in-person Wing Ching to bring awareness and raise money for our philanthropy. Last May, we were awarded the Personal and Professional Development Award from the University of Mississippi's Fraternity and Sorority Life office. We are working to advance those attributes as well as others through enriching guest speakers and Pi Beta Phi's curriculum, Leading with Values ® . Although COVID-19 continues to present new challenges, we had an incredibly successful recruitment, welcoming home 139 New Members from all over the country on Bid Day. We are excited to have them join Mississippi Beta. We recently added to our Pi Phi Phamilies during big/little reveal and have loved watching those bonds develop. We are so appreciative that we can still call 642 Rebel Drive home. We cannot wait for the renovation and expansion to be complete in August 2022 and we look forward to what the rest of this semester has in store!
