Keeping Close with Kappa Alpha Χ Ω 3 A s always, we started off the semester with formal recruitment, led by Recruitment Chairwoman Lauren Leiker '20. We celebrated Bid Day with the theme "Chi O Run," a spinoff of Color Run. This bid day was one to remember, thanks to New Member Educator Carly Howard '20. There was colored powder thrown, fun hair color, bright jewelry, and much more. We had so much fun getting to meet all our new members. We had our first date party on Friday, September 24! Our theme was "Chi O Fest," a tribute to popular music festivals. Our Chapter voted for this party to be a "girls only" date party so new members could bond with their fellow sisters. The event was planned by Social Chairwoman Emma Plankers '19 and her two date party chairwomen: Ashton Kate Davis '20 and Halle Zwetow '20. Living It Up Our monthly sisterhood chat topic this semester was: "Why 20 is not the new 30." This topic was based around a TED Talk by Meg Jay and was planned by Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Mabel Anstine '20. We split up into groups and had discussions around how to take advantage of life in your twenties. Following this event, we had a small sisterhood event with pizza and yoga on the front lawn. Teamwork Makes the Dream Work Lastly, this semester's philanthropy event was Wish Week! Our two major fundraisers were Waffles for Wishes and Pitches for Wishes. Waffles for Wishes was an event where we sold waffles with virtually any topping you can think of. We had dine-in options in our dining room as well as a drive- thru for passersby. Pitches for Wishes is our annual softball tournament, coached and umpired by our members. We also put on some small events throughout the week, such as a percentage night at Mr. Goodcents and a virtual, online fundraiser. We love raising money for Make-A-Wish, and we are so lucky to have had such an amazing team of women put on the events this week. (Wish Week was organized by Liz Oltjen '19, Taylor Sonner '20, Lauren Raubenstine '20, and Lauren Johnson '20.) Although this pandemic is not over, it feels wonderful to find a new sense of normal and make in-person events work safely again. Thank you to all the wonderful alumnae who make our continued success possible. We cannot wait to welcome you back! Lovingly Yours in Chi Omega, Abby Kate LaSala '18 Chapter President aklasala@ksu.edu (913) 787-4320 Our Wishes Are Granted Sisters Old and New Celebrate a Strong Fall Semester PC 2021 had their new member retreat at Lake Potawatomi in September.
