alpha chi omega | page 8 Chapter Eternal Linda Hoerig Powers '68 of Chesterfield, Mo., passed away Sept. 21, 2021, of brain cancer. At MU, she was a pompom girl, Savitar Yearbook Queen and met Warren Powers, with whom she shared 52 loving years. Linda graduated from the University of Nebraska while Warren was coaching there. He later served as head football coach at Mizzou, 1978-84. Since her husband's Alzheimer's diagnosis in 2011, Linda passionately fought the disease, using her skills as a Master Bridge Player to create a nationally recognized fundraiser. Paula Longtin Spring '68 of Warsaw, Mo., entered Chapter Eternal Sept. 8, 2021. Paula earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism at MU. She married Dr. James E. Spring in 1971 and they first lived in Kansas City, where Paula worked for a news channel. They moved to Warsaw in 1977 and Paula remained active in journalism, while also being involved in the community. She was a member of the Warsaw School Board for many years and served as president. She also served on the Missouri State Board of Education. Alumnae News Diana Plackmeyer Thomas '55 was widowed in 2015 but has kept busy with wonderful neighbors and friends. She lives in Chesterfield, Mo., and is enjoying life with a terrific women's organization, two book clubs, bridge, and gardening. Diana hopes to get in one or two trips to Tuscany and France when COVID-19 subsides. Ruth says it is nice having their meals provided along with many fun activities. She loves traveling and keeping in touch with friends. She would love to hear from Mizzou friends, especially those from 1959-61. Susan and George live in Beaufort, Mo. Karen Brodrick Hattan '89 lives in Nashville, Tenn., and runs her own interior design business. She and husband, Mark, have two sons; one is a senior in college while the other is a senior in high school.
