"We've found that our customers really like the convenience. They can still come inside if they want to. But we also know that some of our customers would rather have the option." · Expect increased sanitation technology. Restaurants may continue to make upgrades with safety and sanitation in mind. In addition to touchless sink features, self-flushing toilets and minimal touch or touchless payment methods, businesses may implement UVC light air purification systems and upgrades in HVAC filtration. Barriers that were effective in preventing the spread of disease may remain in place to continue to protect workers and patrons from any type of airborne illness. - Delivery services. Pizza used to be the only food we thought of when it came to delivery. Over the past few years, delivery orders have made up a greater and greater percentage of restaurant sales. Now, thanks in part to the pandemic, the number of diners ordering delivery has soared. Restaurants and dining patrons alike have grown to depend on delivery and takeout, either in-house direct online ordering systems or third-party delivery services like Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub and Postmates. Delivery is definitely showing no signs of slowing down, as more people have experienced the convenience of their favorite restaurant being delivered to their door. And while in-person dining will always be a treat, delivery makes "dining out" an option when going out just isn't in the cards for one reason or another. · Loyalty programs will grow in popularity. Many organizations have implemented loyalty programs to track how often consumers patronize a business and to offer discounts and other deals for repeat customers. Restaurants may increasingly roll out loyalty programs that allow diners to earn points for each meal and reward repeat business through emailed coupons or free items. The pandemic has changed the dining landscape in some ways, but dining out is gaining steam as customers increasingly feel confident and comfortable venturing out once again.
