Norma Wiggins Christy '44 is 96 years old
and lives in Parsons, Kan. She drives herself
to church, PEO, bridge club, and the beauty
shop. Norma's husband, Merrill, passed
away in 2019. She has three children, Steve,
David, and Cynthia; five grandchildren; and
nine great-grandchildren, who visit her often.
Norma retired from teaching in 1987. She'd

Linda Phipps Danenhauer '56 says, "My
roommate and I brought Tri Sig back on campus
in 1956!" She is retired and takes care of her
husband, Eldon, who was Pittsburg's first AFL
pro in 1960: "Foot dementia is not worth the
game!" They live in Topeka, Kan., and have

Jean Baum Seibert '57 is "going strong at 85."
She retired from teaching in 1995, then worked for
her church until 2017. Her son, Mike, is a former
Joplin mayor, and her grandson is a university

Patricia Patchin Tippin '61 took an early
retirement after teaching in public schools
for 34 years. She then worked at Kansas
State University in the College of Education,
supervising student teachers. Patricia lives in
Manhattan, Kan., with her husband, Doug, and

Amanda Vance Seglie '67 is a retired educator
and moved to Atlanta, Ga., to be closer to her
six-year-old grandson. "I am enjoying our
adventures." She has two grown sons, Scott and

Sue Gossard Miller '69 lives in Jacksonville,
Fla., seven months of the year and in North
Carolina the other five. She was widowed in 2014
and has two children, Amy and Glenda, and three

Melinda Carey Martin '75 retired in 2015 as a
middle school science teacher at Baxter Springs
Schools. She lives in Riverton, Kan., with
her husband, Mike, and stays busy with their

Diane Pernot Gallion '76 retired in 2019 from
city utilities in Springfield, Mo. She and her
husband, Rick, live in Ozark, Mo., and enjoy
traveling and seeing their 11 grandchildren.

Bette Raye Walker Lessen '77 is a city clerk for
Arma, Kan., and volunteers with SEK Animal
Advocates. She and her husband, William Rob,

Karen Wills Phelon '80 retired from
teaching FACS and takes care of one of her
grandchildren; she is considering going back
to work when her youngest grandchild starts
school. Karen and her husband, Raylen, have
three grown children and live in Melvern,

Laurie Mendon '82 retired as an insurance agent
and started a new adventure with her husband,
Todd, and son, Ryan, who is a helicopter pilot.
Skybound Helicopters is a tour and pilot training
company in Kansas City. Laurie and Todd also
have a daughter, Erinn Mendon Fischer '06.

Kelly Carroll Buckingham '03 was promoted
to vice president of information technology and
compliance for Volunteers of America, where
she has been employed since 2007. She and her

Erinn Mendon Fischer '06 is an agent for the
U.S. State Department and is on assignment in
Mongolia. In 2022, she will begin a two-year

Rachel Jerome Miles '09 is a physician assistant
in pediatric orthopedic surgery and loves it. She
married her high school sweetheart, Derrick,
and they have two daughters, Madelyn and

in Peculiar, Mo. She is planning an October
2021 wedding and will have a 6-year-old
stepson. She loves to travel and spend time
