NEWS D E L T A D E L T A D E L T A t U N I V E R S I T Y O F O K L A H O M A t F A L L 2 0 2 1 Theta Gamma SETTING THE TONE FOR THETA GAMMA'S FUTURE Latest Updates on Chapter House, Capital Campaign, and COVID-19 Protocols T his summer seemed to go by in a flash, but there's a lot to look forward to this fall for Theta Gamma. Thanks to the unwavering support of the alumnae and friends of Theta Gamma who have given to Building on Excellence at 1611 College, Tri Delta is inching closer toward securing long-term success at the University of Oklahoma. More than 230 donors have raised over $2.2 million, but now is not the time to settle. We need all sisters pitching in to reach our $3 million goal! These campaign dollars have been put to great use in recent months. We completed the fire suppression updates in the house (new fire suppression lines, panels, and the water line into the chapter house). The fire marshal has "green tagged" us! We also completed the study hall update, which includes new desks, tables, chairs, artwork, and carpet. In other exciting news, we have finally received our building permit. This was delayed because of COVID-19—but not due to anything concerning our project. We slowed our fundraising efforts a little due to the pandemic, but we are gearing up to raise another $1 million. Our goal is to start building the addition at the beginning of summer 2022! Each summer, the House Corporation also does a lot of regular maintenance and updating to the chapter house, including cleaning rooms and the kitchen, cleaning vents, and touching up or completely repainting areas (which are done on a rotating basis). This summer's updates consisted of replacing blinds with new wooden shutters for the front and west downstairs windows, which will make all the windows uniform. We reupholstered one sofa and four chairs in the informal living room and purchased two new ice machines since the previous ones broke beyond repair. This fall, we expect life to be closer to normal in Norman compared to this time last year; however, the House Corporation and active chapter will continue to follow Tri Delta and university guidelines. Last year, we purchased air cleaning units from AERUS LLC (they developed the air cleaning technology for NASA!) and we will still run these in the chapter house while following all recommended cleaning procedures. Mom E has ordered the appropriate extra cleaning supplies for the chapter, including hand sanitizers. We have a commercial -grade dishwasher in the kitchen and high- speed hand dryers in the restrooms to help the chapter almost fully eliminate the use of paper products, as they create a lot of trash and are typically not thrown away in a timely manner. If you are in Norman this fall for an OU football game, other OU event, or another occasion, please stop by the chapter house. The collegians are excited to reconnect with Theta Gamma alumnae!
