It made me rethink a mid-life career switch meeting the fine people that serve in 'the other' uniform in our community. This is the first of three series featuring jobs within our Kelly Twedell, features editor police department. Whether you own a lightweight carbon road bike, a mountain bike or a rusty beach cruiser, it seems we all have fond bicycle memories and stories to share. I even worked at Hawley's Bicycle World years ago one summer, where I learned to fix flat tires, encouraged new riders and even sold 113 bikes with a fun crew of co-workers. Go behind the scenes with Jason Brady, page 41, and read how cycling is therapeutic for different cycling enthusiasts. I am so excited and blessed to be a part of the CityView team. Even though I have only been in Fayetteville less than eight weeks, I feel completely immersed in the lifestyle here…and love it! This city is truly "All-America" and I am looking forward to meeting more of you in the community and telling your stories. In my inaugural issue I discovered the tantalizing tastes at local cafes and bakeries for Sip, Savor, Indulge on page 45. As a "foodie" I particularly enjoyed this assignment and I can tell you that our establishments here in town are on par with those in New York or Los Angeles! Ironically, as much as I love eating, another passion of Miriam Landru, associate editor mine is fitness. In Actively Aquatic on page 51 I discovered you can do a lot more than just swim in water! Finally, I enjoyed my meeting with another new resident of our city, the new city manager Tim Voorhees on page 35. We even had a few things in common such as our time in Hawaii and our favorite downtown restaurant! All in all, I am looking forward to learning more and experiencing more in Fayetteville and Cumberland County.
