2 Beta Theta Pi LEGACY OF OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE CONTINUES D espite trying times, the men of Beta Theta Pi are looking stronger than ever. It is once again a proud time to be a Gamma Lambda Beta as the house continues to make clear its standard of excellence in all arenas! Beta Theta Pi, to no surprise, remains the largest house on campus with 166 initiated undergraduates before the conclusion of the spring 2021 semester. Rest assured, the growing size of our fraternity is not a consequence of lackadaisical recruitment. Rather, it is due to the growing attractiveness of Beta's ability to consistently produce men of principle that influence those around them and lead well in a plethora of organizations found across the Oklahoma State campus and beyond. Our chapter once again excelled academically this spring as 62 outstanding 4.0s were recorded! That is over 37% of the house achieving a 4.0 GPA amidst a semester faced with online learning, sickness, increased stress, and limited student-teacher interaction. The IFC average GPA this spring was a 3.34. Gamma Lambda Chapter blew this score out of the water with our members and pledges accumulating an average 3.57 GPA, which earned a second overall ranking only to FarmHouse by 0.1 of a point. We are especially proud of having initiated 43 highly motivated pledges at the beginning of the spring 2021 semester. Many of these new initiates immediately put their passion for Beta to work, as many filled vital cabinet positions and are already leaving a legacy. Gamma Lambda Chapter also thinks extremely highly of its Alpha Xi spring pledge class of eight strong, who will hopefully be initiated near the beginning of this coming fall semester. Greek shows were once again a high point for Beta this spring as the men of Beta Theta Pi and the women of Kappa Alpha Theta finished second overall in Varsity Revue. The cast also received first overall in the vocals category. We continued to add hardware to our shelves as our chapter was awarded the Membership Development Award and the IFC Scholarship Award. Recruitment this summer has encountered tremendous success as well under the leadership of Nic Forhan '22. The Texas and Tulsa rush teams have hand-picked 49, and counting, outstanding young men that they think could one day bear the letters of Beta Theta Pi responsibly. A special thanks to all our alumni that volunteered their homes and finances to pass on the Beta legacy to yet another generation. On that note, I would like to take a moment on behalf of Gamma Lambda Chapter to express our gratitude to the faithful alumni of our chapter. We thank you for the active role that many of you have played in the recent years to propel us to new heights. In keeping with the historical legacy of achievements, please rest assured that your chapter brothers are trying to keep Beta distinguished from all others and following in your footsteps. Yours in __kai__, Jonathan Buskirk '23 Chapter President jonathan.w.buskirk@okstate.edu Steven Hjelm '22, Cole McClain '22, Braden McAlister '22 Max Sise '23, Dawson Gates '23, Ryan Hofmann '23, Jonathan Buskirk '23, Alex Lakin '23
