Delta Chi Chapter DELTA TAU DELTA Oklahoma State University T he 2021-22 academic year is shaping up to be a sensational one for Delta Chi Chapter. We celebrated signing day in June by bringing in 20 new members (with more to come!) to our brotherhood, which is no doubt a testament to our high-character active members and state- of-the-art new Shelter! I can't wait to see how Delta Tau Delta can raise the bar for fraternity men at OSU and nationwide in our new home. It has been wonderful to see the excitement of undergraduates and alumni alike about our brotherhood throughout the renovation process and the Pledge Delt Again capital campaign. COME SEE I truly hope all of you will come see what your generous contributions have accomplished. For those of you waiting to participate in this campaign, it is equally important for you to come see the improvements. Please make it a priority to visit the house this fall. Introduce yourself to the actives and let them show you around. Tell them a couple of your fond memories. COME CELEBRATE The fall highlight will be Saturday, September 4, for the dedication ceremony of our new Shelter. Make plans to celebrate with us that weekend. I can't think of a better or more important place to be than at 1306 West University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, that weekend. The Cowboys will also be kicking off their season at 6 p.m. that night against Missouri State, so this is a perfect opportunity for a fun-filled day with your brothers in Stillwater. COME RENEW I believe all of you will find the physical structure to be terrific. It is bound to set the course for Delta Tau Delta on OSU's campus for years to come. The many generous gifts we have, and continue to receive, are very gratifying to me as campaign chairman. I thank all of you for giving me the opportunity to do this job and the chance to renew my connection with many brothers. I really look forward to seeing you at the dedication as you come renew your connection to Delta Chi Chapter and your brothers. The weekend will be a lasting memory! MEET THE CHALLENGE Our campaign continues to make progress, as we've received more than $5.26 million in commitments toward our $5.5 million goal. We are currently at $214,500 on the match side of our $300,000 challenge, which has been graciously organized by Vaughn Vennerberg '76 and Joe Eastin '92. It is very important to fill the match so these generous donors can complete the challenge side by the time we celebrate the Shelter dedication ceremony. A full challenge and match will give us a fundraising total of $5.5 million, so we need all brothers to chip in so we can surpass our goal with ease! Your continued pledges and support are critical in reducing the amount of debt service incurred. All alumni support is needed. If you have any questions about your pledge, please contact me. Come see, come celebrate, and come renew with Delta Chi Chapter this fall! Fraternally, Stephen E. Reel '70 Campaign Chairman Pledge Delt Again Capital Campaign (405) 615-8705 stephenreel254@gmail.com COME SEE, COME CELEBRATE, COME RENEW New Shelter Dedication Ceremony Set for September 4 C hip Woodward '68 looked into fraternities at the advice of his father, who saw it as a great way to find friends with common goals. That proved fruitful when Chip met the brothers of Delta Tau Delta and the high-quality members who recruited him. These men shared many values that were important to Chip, especially an emphasis on academics and helping one another with their studies. "I could tell they were headed in the same direction I was," he said. One thing Chip is most proud of from his college years is the strong anti-hazing stance within Oklahoma State Greek life. He served as Delta Chi's assistant treasurer followed by treasurer over two years and enjoyed getting to know his brothers both inside and outside the Shelter. "When you have to live with 50 different people, you learn all about interper- sonal relationships and how to treat people." Chip credits Delt with helping round out his personality, which was important in his per- sonal and career success later in life. In the years since graduation, Chip has attended several Founder's Day events and remained close with a great group of Delt brothers, largely from his pledge class. The men have now been friends for 50 years and have enjoyed decades of skiing and golf trips. Chip has also enjoyed attending Homecom- ing games and visiting the Shelter from time to time. "I find it hard to imagine what my life would have been without my fraternity experience," Chip said. "I just have so many wonderful memories and friends that I would not have had otherwise." Chip was admittedly nervous when asked to join the Pledge Delt Again campaign board, but he quickly grew to love the experience. As a board member, he reached out to Delta Chi alumni mostly from the 1960s era, relishing the opportunity to catch up with brothers and learn about their lives several decades later. "I've treated that as a real blessing just to reconnect with them, and it wasn't hard to gain support from a lot of people." Most of the members Chip spoke to were able and willing to donate, which he credits largely to the bond shared among his pledge class and the brothers of their era. "I wanted future brothers to have something better [than our now-aging Shelter], and it's important to stay competitive," Chip said of his decision to support the campaign finan- cially and as a board member. "And so, I was willing to do what I could to help make that happen." If you'd like to connect with Chip, he can be reached at tpwoodwardjr@gmail.com.
