'Cycling is a way of life in
Northwest
Arkansas'
Fayetteville and NWA's status as a nationally and
internationally recognized biking mecca just keeps
growing. The first event to add legendary weight
to the reputation was the Joe Martin Stage Race,
which began as the Fayetteville Spring Classic back
in 1978. Held annually in Fayetteville, the road race
on gravel and dirt includes professional and amateur
competitors. This year's race on August 26-29 will
mark the 44th anniversary of the amateur races, the
19th anniversary on the USA Cycling Pro Road Tour
and the 7th year to be on the UCI (Union Cycliste
International) Americas Tour calendar.
