Notes from MIZ KΔ KAPPA DELTA | UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI | SUMMER 2021 T he spring semester presented a whole new set of challenges for us as we navigated an ever-changing "new normal." As a chapter, we worked our way through finding and doing activities in new ways. Whether it was Zoom chapters, socially distanced Greek Week, or even being creative with what we do for socials, we had to work together to figure out the logistics of it all. While it probably wasn't our ideal semester, the circumstances pushed us together in support and love for one another more than ever before, and we're grateful for the events that we could participate in and host. SISTERHOOD IN BLOOM Spring recruitment and Bid Day looked a little different than years past. We were thrilled to invite women to recruitment events via Zoom that were filled with fun activities such as canvas painting, eating cookies, and great conversations. We welcomed six incredible new members this spring and couldn't be more excited. VIRTUAL GREEK WEEK This year we experienced our first socially distanced Greek Week at Mizzou. Epsilon Iota sisters love Greek Week and put in a great deal of effort to make this year just as fun. Our theme was Jersey Shore, and we were paired with the men of Tau Kappa Epsilon and Zeta Beta Tau. We placed second overall and Logan Merz '17 won the title of Greek Week Queen. We completed multiple hours of community service, had several sisters proudly donate blood, and our chapter donated many cans of food to our local food pantry. We also competed in multiple sports and took first place in this year's mystery sport: swimming! Greek Week 2021 was so much fun for our sisters, and we can't wait to get back out there next year. EPSILON IOTA GIVES BACK In March, Vice President of Community Service Sydnie Kaufman '19 planned a COVID-safe Shamrock Week to raise money for PCAA and our local philanthropy, Rainbow House. We raised $30,000 to support our philanthropies and raise awareness. We also had our first-ever drive- thru dinner, Kappa DelTACO, where we served "walking" tacos to people who drove up to the house. We thoroughly enjoyed this and were so grateful we could pull it off while staying safe amid the ongoing pandemic. We also had a local Girl Scout troop come to the house every Tuesday for a few weeks to sell cookies on our front lawn. Almost every week they sold out of all their cookies within 30 minutes of being here! I think it is safe to say that college students really love Girl Scout cookies. CELEBRATING OUR SISTERS Six of our members have been invited to be Panhellenic counselors for fall recruitment, and we are so proud of them and excited for this opportunity. We're also excited for Bella Ledonne '18, who was tapped into one of Mizzou's secret societies this spring. As we all know, this year has brought a lot of tough things for our members, especially for our seniors. We are incredibly proud of each sister as they land jobs and are accepted into their respective graduate school programs. We wish all our graduating sisters the best of luck as they enter the next chapter of their life. THANKFUL FOR DEDICATED ALUMNAE We're grateful for all our wonderful alumnae and for the support you have given us this past year. We hope you stay healthy and safe, and we look forward to seeing you all in person again soon!
