By Karen Rice For 36-year-old Robbie Pfunder, mountain biking is his sport, his passion, his ambition and his living. And he couldn't be happier about it. The full-time pro rider, ranked 4th in North America, currently lives in Boulder, Colorado—a mountain biker's dream. "I picked the Front Range because the trails, the mountains and the laid-back atmosphere are ideal," Robbie says. In September, the four-time Mountain States Champion is making the trip to Bentonville to show off his stuff at the Benton County Fair. Because although mountain biking is his life's "work," he likes to keep it fun. "I stay pretty focused on my riding and improving my show but I also try not to take myself too seriously, otherwise life gets too serious," he muses. "Riding bikes is about having fun and I believe that that's very important." Robbie says he likes the sense of being connected to the bike as one, being in touch with nature, and of course "the adrenaline of high speed or pulling off a rad line." Performing on his mountain bike is one of Robbie's favorite things to do, because while most people can relate to the simple joy of riding a bike, many have never seen trials skills in person before. "For me, it was one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed," he recalls. "I really enjoy seeing people's reactions who are seeing my show for the first time." At the Benton County Fair he'll be performing multiple Mountain Bike Trails Stunt Shows. The shows go for roughly 30 minutes and include an action-packed stunt show, followed by a meet n' greet session where you can say hi and grab an autographed poster! "It's gonna be a super fun time and I look forward to meeting everyone," Robbie says. He's also excited to test his Rocky Mountain skills on the Northwest Arkansas trails while he's in town.
