r e d f c u.o r g | 7 Redstone celebrates a decade of service and support in Murfreesboro Murfreesboro's annual JazzFest is a weekend of fun and contemporary jazz for the entire family. Redstone is a regular sponsor of the event. With the opening of its first branch in Murfreesboro on October 14, 2011, Redstone leaped into a thriving, sophisticated market that demanded "best in class" products and service, and Redstone delivered. Its first branch on Rutherford Boulevard opened with just three full-time team members. Today, there are three branches fully staffed with 32 employees. Its flagship branch complex in Tennessee opened two years ago at 2404 Medical Center Parkway and hosts gatherings in its Community Room and Terrace. In addition, the team continues to expand its offerings, including mortgage and title services, insurance and investments, and business lending. "Our local Redstone team is so proud to serve the community here in Murfreesboro," said Mike Panesi, vice president. "Our team here is made up of some of the best in the financial industry, all focused on delivering excellence to our members every day. We appreciate the support that Murfreesboro has given us these past 10 years," he said. Retired NASA engineer St. John Courtenay Jr. opened his first account at Redstone in 1960. He moved to Murfreesboro in 2016 and was excited to see his credit union was already there. "I've always had my accounts at Redstone. All my money is at Redstone – and it's right up the road," said the 93-year-old Courtenay. In September 2020, Redstone opened a student-run branch of its credit union at Blackman High School. Students will gain real-life work experience, increase their financial literacy, and become eligible for a college scholarship from Redstone. Another benefit of Blackman's relationship with Redstone is the specially designed debit card that generates money for the school each time it is used. Redstone members can request the Blackman Blaze debit card at their branch. So far, Blackman has earned a little over $1,220. Redstone's support in the community has also grown over the years. It has increased with every new branch. In 2019, Redstone contributed $74,699 in sponsorships to Rutherford County nonprofits, schools, and civic organizations. e pandemic slowed many activities in 2020; however, in 2021, Redstone has already approved 19 sponsorships for a total of $30,000. e support is spread among a variety of entities. Redstone Murfreesboro branch locations are 1749 South Rutherford Boulevard, 1141 Fortress Boulevard, and 2404 Medical Center Parkway. "Being one of the largest credit unions in the nation means nothing without connecting with our members on a personal level," Panesi said. "at's what we plan to do for decades to come." Redstone Federal Credit Union celebrates 10 years in Murfreesboro this October and reflects on a decade of community engagement, low fees, and great member service.
