10 Pay It Forward Y ou are the only one who can place a value on your Sigma Chi membership—the lifelong friendships you made, the development of your values and principles, and the many ways Sigma Chi enhanced your college years at UC. Remember that each of us benefited from the courage, generosity, work, and sacrifice of those who went before us. We all enjoyed the comfort and brotherhood Zeta Psi provided during our years at Cincinnati. Now it is our turn to repay the fraternity, ensuring that the same, wonderful experience is available to others. GIFT STRUCTURE Because of the magnitude of this project, we are encouraging all alumni to seriously consider major gis to the campaign. Pledges can be spread over a five-year period for our alumni to stretch their support. Gis in honor or in memory of other Sigma Chis or family members, as well as family gis, are encouraged. DONOR RECOGNITION Each of us, simply by our presence, has contributed to the history of Sigma Chi Fraternity. How appropriate then that each of our names be entered into its halls. Each donor who contributes $2,500 or more will be recognized on a prominently displayed plaque. All contributions of $500 or more will be recognized in campaign publications, unless otherwise requested. Individual room naming opportunities start at the $25,000 pledge level. Contact Drew Harmon '14 at andrewDharms@gmail.com or (513) 509-7015 to see how your legacy can live on in the halls of the Sigma Chi house. TAX-DEDUCTIBLE GIFTS We know tax deductibility is important to our donors and we are honored to work with the Lincoln W. Pavey Foundation to make this possible. e IRS will allow tax-deductible dollars to be spent on space in the chapter house used exclusively for educational purposes. With this limitation, pledges of $25,000-plus will be eligible for tax deductibility through the Lincoln W. Pavey Foundation. A large portion of the chapter house will be deemed non-educational. As a result, there is a great need for contributions that are not tax deductible. Pledges under $25,000 will be directed to Zeta Psi Building Company and are greatly appreciated. WAYS TO GIVE ere are a number of ways to participate, including check, credit card, ACH (Automated Clearing House) payments, or stock transfer. A contribution of appreciated publicly traded securities is an excellent way to support the campaign. e donor of appreciated publicly traded securities will not ordinarily be subject to capital gains tax on the appreciated value of the gi. Please consult your tax advisor for potentially significant tax advantages. Brothers over the age 70.5 have a unique opportunity to give directly from their IRA to the Lincoln W. Pavey Educational Foundation via a Qualified Charitable Distribution. is gi will count toward any required minimum distribution, but it does not count as taxable income, which may enable you to decrease the taxable portion of your Social Security, decrease your Medicare premiums, and increase your medical deductions. COMPANY MATCHING GIFTS If your employer offers a matching gi program, you may be able to double your contribution to this project. Matching gis are only available for gis to the Lincoln W. Pavey Education Foundation. Please include a matching gi form with this pledge form.
