PAGE 5 PHI DELTA THETA OUR PLAN ASSISTING OUR PHIS We asked you once, and now we hope to ask you again, to invest in the sustainability of the chapter house and our members. By establishing a housing reserve fund, we can be confident in our ability to fund ongoing maintenance and operations as well as potential larger repairs to the educational space within our chapter house. As such a large portion of our facility is deemed educational in nature, this will allow us to keep membership costs down. Additionally, by creating a MO Alpha scholarship, we can offset membership and housing costs by providing funds to apply for academic use. PART 1: MISSOURI ALPHA SCHOLARSHIP FUND • Raise $500,000 in a scholarship account at the Phi Delta Theta Foundation. • Decrease the financial burden of membership and housing-related expenses by providing scholarships to men based on need and merit. • The Phi Delta Theta Scholarship Judging Committee will review applicants and reward scholarships on need-based and merit criteria. • Merit criteria will be based on academic achievement of at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), chapter service, campus activities and honors, as well as community involvement. • With these stipulations, the goal will be to drive recruitment numbers with reduced costs, increase live-in membership numbers, and drive academic achievement with financial incentives. • By raising $500,000 with an average of 4% payout, we could award 10 scholarships of $2,000 to our Phi brothers annually. OUR VISION The MO Alpha alumni have developed a solid plan to address the long-term viability of the Phi Delt experience at Mizzou. Through careful study, assessment, and planning, it has been determined that increasing available funds at the Phi Delta Theta Foundation will provide scholarships to allow members to take part in membership and provide funding for future maintenance and improvements to the house in coming years. Phi Delt must invest in our members and our home to ensure MO Alpha maintains the caliber of men we have worked hard to recruit and retain. Working with the Phi Delta Theta Foundation, the MO Alpha House Corporation has developed a tactical approach to our future. PART 2: HOUSING RESERVE FUND • Raise an additional $500,000 to the Phi Delta Theta Foundation to be used for operational costs attributed to the educational areas. • This will help keep housing costs to the undergraduate men low by not having to increase capital improvement fees, and will keep us competitive in terms of campus housing options. TOTAL GOAL: $1 MILLION
