"I have been so very blessed to have the opportunity to teach members of the next generation of anesthesiologists." After retiring from academic work in 2017, she went to work running an office-based anesthesia practice directed primarily at delivering care to pediatric patients in need of dental care. "I am hoping that this work setup will allow me to do more medical missions as I enter into the third phase of my career," Angel said. "COVID-19 has stopped the vast majority of medical mission work, so I am hopeful that it will begin to open up again in late 2021." Though it was difficult for Angel to stay involved with Kappa Alpha Theta during medical school, she started looking for ways to reconnect with the sisterhood as her children grew up. Joining the facility corporation board fit the bill perfectly, and she has enjoyed making new Theta friends through the experience. "Even during the busiest years of medical school and residency, I always made a point of doing something Theta every year," Angel said. "Even if it was just as simple as stopping by 603 Kentucky before a football game." Recently, she had the privilege of working with active members as a COVID-19 advisor. With the pandemic, it was clear that living in a group would be challenging while trying to keep everyone safe. Fortunately, there was a group of women who met the challenge head-on. "All of these women deserve huge pats on the back because it took special talents from each of us to get through this year," Angel said. "Our active sisters were amazing and rose to the occasion, doing everything that was asked of them." While the year of the pandemic has been a challenge, Angel says it has also shown her that Thetas are adaptable. "Job well done, Alpha Mu Thetas!" Angel lives in Columbia, Missouri, and can be reached at angelamtheta@gmail.com. Bid Day at Alpha Mu in 1981. Serving the Sisterhood (Continued from page 3)
