3 COLORADO DELTA Colorado Delta's 2020 executive team of Hunter Johnson '22, Thomas Papenthein '22, John Desrosiers '22, Matthew Read Saint '22, and Gregory Miller '22 celebrate SigEp being named the Chapter of the Year by the Mines Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. D espite a challenging 2020, our brothers didn't waver in their commitment to greatness. This effort was recognized by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Mines, as SigEp received the Chapter of the Year award. This award means a lot to all the brothers who have worked so hard over the years to help SigEp thrive at Mines. As we look to build upon our success from 2020, we're thrilled to welcome new Faculty Fellow Dr. Derek Morgan, Evansville '94, this spring. Derek is the dean of students at Mines, and we are super excited to have him around. He has already made a tremendous impact at Colorado Delta. Even though the fall and spring semesters have not been ideal for learning due to multiple quarantines and online classes, Colorado Delta still managed to have the best grades on campus among Greek organizations with a fall 3.43 GPA. We were extremely proud to have 50 brothers make the Dean's List by earning a GPA of 3.0 or higher. These outstanding young men have been motivated to add to their academic success and look forward to more brothers making the Dean's List this spring. We are now planning for the fall semester. We aim to co-host a speaker series with Sigma Kappa. The series will feature presentations from school faculty and alumni to Mines students about their careers, their time at Mines, and anything that will benefit the students. This idea was brought up by VP Recruitment Nick Karst '22, who has worked hard to make this event happen. If you would like to participate in this event as an alumni speaker, please contact Nick at (303) 916-8647 for details. While recruitment was 100% virtual this spring, we initiated four new members and have several others who have inquired about joining in the fall. We are hoping for a large fall new member class and that they will arrive at Mines with little to no COVID-19 protocols required on campus.
